BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- China Saturday expressed "serious concerns" over India's anti-subsidy investigation on sodium nitrite on Jan. 14 and probe into the special safeguard measure of sodium carbonate on Jan. 16.     Following bilateral consultations, China has urged domestic businesses to contact their Indian peers and solve trade issues through talks and cooperation, Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, said in a statement.     But India didn't respond to Chinese efforts and launched its first anti-subsidy probe over Chinese-made sodium nitrite, Yao said. "China expresses dissatisfaction over it," he noted.     China also expressed resolute opposition to India's probe into the special safeguard measure of sodium carbonate, the spokesman stated.     The probe not only hurts the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses, but has negative impact on the stable bilateral trade relations, Yao said.     The current global financial crisis has serious impact on the economies worldwide and all nations need to boost cooperation in fighting the crisis, he said.     China hoped that India could show prudence and restraint in using trade remedies, as trade protectionism could only add to the grim world trade situation.     He added that China and India should step up consultations and promote cooperation among industries from the two developing nations.

BERLIN, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- China and Germany have vowed to make joint efforts to stabilize the global economy amid the ongoing financial and economic crisis, said a joint statement issued Thursday.     The cooperation between China and Germany, the world's two major export-driven economies, is of special significance for the world's efforts to tackle the financial downturn, said the statement released after visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.     The two sides agreed to strengthen dialogue on economic and trade, currency and fiscal policies and pledged to support each other on their economic stimulus plans based on their own situations, it said.     China and Germany have agreed to enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation in jointly dealing with the global economic crisis, Wen told a press conference following his meeting with Merkel.     The strengthened Sino-German cooperation is of special significance in the context of the current world economic downturn, said Wen. Lhasa, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Four media organizations from China's neighboring countries will be invited for the first time to cover the annual session of the People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region to be held on Jan. 14.     The plenary session of the Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference to be held on Jan. 12 will also be open to foreign press.     According to a press conference held by the two sessions on late Saturday, the invitations to the four foreign media were an effort to "let the world know better about a real and new Tibet through an objective visual angle."     Names of the foreign media organizations were not specified.     Tibet authorities also revealed that they will invite diplomats with Nepal's consulate general to Lhasa, capital of the autonomous region, to attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the sessions.     There will be nearly 200 journalists from 16 media organizations home and abroad to report the annual sessions this year, the press conference was told.     At the two sessions, report on the work of the regional government will be discussed, as well as local budgets and plans for social and economic developments.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Washington Friday for a summit to discuss issues concerning financial markets and the global economy.     President Hu, and other leaders from the Group of Twenty (G20) members, have been invited by U.S. President George W. Bush to Saturday's meeting, the first in a series of summits to mitigate what economists predict could be a long and deep downturn.     Later in the evening, the Chinese president is expected to attend a dinner hosted by Bush for all the leaders.     "The leaders will review progress being made to address the current financial crisis, advance a common understanding of its causes, and, in order to avoid a repetition, agree on a common set of principles for reform of the regulatory and institutional regimes for the world's financial sectors," said White House spokeswoman Dana Perino last month in making the announcement of the summit.     At a press briefing last week, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said that China expects to build a fair, inclusive and efficient international financial system.     "We hope to consult with other participants to reform the international financial system and finally try to establish a fair, inclusive and efficient system," He said.     He said that China would take an active part in the summit-related activities in a constructive attitude, work together with all the parties for the achievement of pragmatic outcome, and impel the international community to tackle the financial crisis in a timely, comprehensive and effective manner.     The members of the G20 include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.     The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF),the president of the World Bank, the secretary-general of the United Nations and the chairman of the Financial Stability Forum have also been invited to the Washington summit.     Washington is the first leg of President Hu's five-nation trip. He will later pay state visits to Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru and Greece. During his stay in Peru, he will attend the Economic Leaders' Informal Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) forum in Lima.
