President Donald Trump is expected to name his pick to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg sometime this week.Previously, the president announced his Supreme Court pick in a primetime address and similar plans are expected this time. While it remains unclear if Trump has the votes to confirm his pick before the election, the president has made clear he intends on picking a woman to fill Ginsburg’s seat."It will be a woman, a very talented, very brilliant woman," Trump said at a recent campaign event.Trump confirmed on Monday that he is vetting five women for the seat.POSSIBLE PICK #1One judge topping the list for President Trump is Judge Amy Coney Barrett.Barrett has been long rumored to be a possible Supreme Court justice.A federal appellate judge and Notre Dame law professor, Barrett is believed to be a true conservative having formerly clerked for the late right-wing beacon Justice Antonin Scalia. Barrett is also by legal standards young at only 48 years of age. In recent years, both political parties have opted for younger justices to ensure they can serve for decades. In recent years, Barrett has sided with conservatives on cases involving immigration, guns rights and abortion. In a 2017, Barrett took issue with Chief Justice John Roberts’ ruling to keep the Affordable Care Act in tact in 2012.Writing for the Norte Dame Law Journal, Barrett said “Chief Justice Roberts pushed the Affordable Care Act beyond its plausible meaning to save the statute."Judge Barrett and her husband, Jesse Barrett, a former federal prosecutor, have seven children, including two adopted from Haiti.POSSIBLE PICK #2If the White House sees an issue with Judge Barrett, Trump may look at Judge Barbara Lagoa. By looking at Lagoa, the President may also find a major political advantage with winning Florida.Lagoa is a Florida Cuban-American and according to her biography, the first Latina to ever sit on the Florida Supreme Court.Politico reports that Florida Republicans are lobbying hard for Lagoa, believing Trump would certainly win Florida if she is selected. Lagoa is a Florida native.Lagoa recently sided with Florida Republicans in an 11th Circuit case upholding a Florida law that all ex-felons must pay outstanding fines before they can legally vote.Lagoa is married to Paul C. Huck, Jr., an attorney. They have three daughters. Like Barret, Lagoa is by legal standards quite young at 52 years of age and capable of serving for decades on the High Court. 2485

President Donald Trump has moved ahead with steep tariffs on steel and aluminum, upsetting many of America's biggest trading partners. The measures are more nuanced than what Trump and his advisers had initially threatened to do. Canada and Mexico are exempt from the tariffs for the time being, and other US allies will be allowed to apply to be let off.But analysts have warned the move -- which Trump says is necessary for American national security -- will still ramp up tensions and could lead to a trade war. Here's how the countries that do the most trade with the United States are responding:China: 'A serious attack' 632

President Donald Trump remains in the hospital as he's being treated for COVID-19.His doctors today saying he’s in good spirits and has been fever free today, they also say he’s been treated with two different drugs. What are they and how do they work together? We went to a medical expert to try to get some clarity.“About 48 hours ago the president received a special antibody therapy directed against the coronavirus, working closely with the companies and monitoring him,” said Navy Commander Dr. Sean Conley. “Yesterday he received Remdesivir, and the plan is to continue a five-day treatment course for Remdesivir.”What is Remdesivir?Dr. Mangala Narasimhan, who’s been at Northwell Health for 13 years and has treated hundreds of COVID-19 patients explains.“Remdesivir is an anti-viral agent and it attacks the virus with hopes of making it less lethal and deadly," she said. "If you give Remdesivir early in the course before patients are really sick, you can prevent them from progressing on to a higher level of illness.”Doctors have recently been using the anti-viral drug on COVID-19 patients, but not the antibody cocktail produced by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals the president is also taking, because it hasn’t been FDA-approved.“Basically what your body does when it sees a virus it produces an antibody, so this is taking an antibody that was produced and cloning it so that produced in higher levels and giving it directly to you,” said Dr. Narasimhan. "The anti-viral cocktail is new, started developing in June, is not FDA-approved but they got it through a compassionate use for the president. We're not sure what side effects are.”The hope is that both treatments together will slow down the progression of the president’s coronavirus but it’s still unclear how his age, weight and the new drug waiting for FDA-approval will play into his recovery.“The two together are unknown for sure,” Dr. Narasimhan said. “The plus is you’ll stop the progression of COVID-19.”The president’s doctors say they are monitoring him closely not just for any COVID-19 complications but also for any effects the treatments may have on him. This story was first reported by Jennifer Bisram at PIX11 in New York, New York. 2224

President Donald Trump described Oprah Winfrey as "very insecure" and accused her of "biased and slanted" after an interview on CBS's "60 Minutes" that addressed his presidency.Oprah hosted a group discussion with 14 voters who had appeared on the show in fall 2017 -- half who had voted for Trump and half who had not.The discussion looked at whether the the pro-Trump panelists still backed the President, his alleged "s***hole countries" comments, the worldview of the US under his leadership, questions around Trump's stability and fitness for office, and accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior.""Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!" Trump tweeted after the show was broadcast. Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. President Donald Trump hit back at top House Intelligence Committee Democrat Adam Schiff in an interview Saturday night, dismissing a Democratic memo on FBI surveillance released earlier in the day as "a nothing.""He'll leak all sorts of information. You know, he's a bad guy," Trump said Saturday in an interview on Fox News. "Certainly the memo was a nothing."The House Intelligence Committee released a Democratic memo in redacted form that Schiff wrote as a rebuttal to a Republican memo that accuses the FBI of suppressing Democratic ties to an opposition research dossier on Trump and Russia used in a FISA warrant for former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page.Trump said the Democratic memo "really verifies" the GOP memo."A lot of bad things happened on the other side -- not on this side but on the other side -- and somebody should look into it because what they did is really fraudulent," Trump said of Democrats.  953
