SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Early data suggests the coronavirus vaccine candidates from both Pfizer and Moderna are safe and effective, but some patients may experience side effects that can feel intense but resolve quickly.More than 37,000 people have taken either the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine in a Phase 3 trial. Both vaccines require two doses, and side effects were more common after the second dose.Pfizer reported 3.8% of the recipients felt fatigue and 2% experienced headache, based on preliminary data from its Phase 3 trial. But the increased rates are still extremely rare: an extra 1 to 2 cases for every million doses, according to the CDC.Dr. Ramers said the long-term consequences of contracting COVID-19 are much more concerning.“This is not a virus that you want to get,” he said. “There are unpredictable effects. There are healthy young people developing clots and strokes.”A study on COVID-19 patients in Michigan found that two months after hospitalization, 32.5% had a lingering cough or difficulty breathing and 11% reported new or worsening trouble caring for themselves.Both the FDA and the CDC are taking extra steps to monitor people who get the vaccine early for any side effects. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Disney officials say they do not believe Disneyland or California Adventure parks will reopen before 2021.During an earnings call on Thursday, Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy said the Anaheim theme park will likely remain close through the end of the fiscal first quarter, which ends in late December."While some of our parks are open with limited capacity, we currently anticipate Disneyland resort will remain closed at least through the end of the fiscal first quarter," McCarthy said.RELATED: San Diego County businesses sue amid rollback in reopening restrictionsMcCarthy added that the company does not have any indication of how long restrictions on theme parks will last.California introduced reopening guidelines for small and large theme parks in October. The county would need to do the same to move into the yellow tier. Desiree Mieir is a mom of four. Her husband is currently serving his tenth year in the Navy. She says the high cost of living in San Diego makes it tough to survive here. "It's several dollars of a difference as far as gas goes. Milk, eggs, all your basic necessities," said Mieir. "If we want to go on a day trip, we have to make room in the budget for that." Now, every month, the family gets access to free food at Dewey Elementary School, one of Feeding San Diego's distribution sites. If passed neighbors would be required to park their cars in the garage before parking in their driveway or on the street.The Board of Directors distributed proposed updates to the Community Association Handbook for a homeowner review and comment; and will vote on Tuesday, August 20.Among the proposed changes:Street parking is permitted only after all garage spaces, and driveway spaces, are utilized to its maximum designed capacityThe Association's management company is permitted to perform a garage inspection of a residence to ensure compliance with the Association's governing documentsHomeowner Jose Esquer believes an inspection would be an invasion of people's property."They seem to want the right to inspect your garage, and that's private property. What I have in my garage shouldn't be anybody's business, but whoever is inside my house. I have a problem with them trying to police what we do once inside our house," said Esquer. Becky Niemiec already parks her car in the garage but still believes the changes would be an overstep. "We don't have attics, we don't have basements, we have no storage, people should be able to use their garage however they want to," said Niemiec.Niemiec says the issue has drawn a lot of debate on Nextdoor.
