Shamika Burrage survived a near-fatal car accident two years ago, but not without losing something pretty important: her left ear.Now, thanks to a novel procedure performed at an Army medical center in Texas, Burrage is getting that ear back in a most unusual way.Plastic surgeons harvested cartilage from Burrage's ribs to create a new ear and then grew it under the skin of her forearm. Then the doctors at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso successfully transplanted the ear from her arm to her head.The technique -- a first time in the Army -- is called prelaminated forearm free flap, said Lt. (AP) — Uber finally got its food delivery company, acquiring Postmates in a .65 billion all-stock deal, the ride-hailing giant has confirmed.The deal helps Uber and its Ubereats food-delivery division pick up some ground against industry leader DoorDash, which controls about 37% of the U.S. food delivery market. SHEBOYGAN, Wisc. -- A Sheboygan dad was arrested for OWI after his two toddlers fell out of his van and were seriously injured.Police said it happened Tuesday just before 7:30 p.m. near 8th Street and Indiana Avenue. A witness told police the two children fell out of the van as it went through an intersection. Officers were eventually able to identify the children who were one and two years of age.A short time later police located their father -- who said he was not aware they had fallen out of the van.He was then arrested for OWI and Child Neglect.One child was treated and released from a local hospital. The other child was transported to a Milwaukee area hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.  764

(KGTV) - Evacuees from the Valley Fire began to head home Thursday morning as Cal Fire lifted evacuation orders throughout the area."We're trying to head out early," said Deehorn Valley resident Dale Elliott. "That way we can get everything straightened up, cleaned up try to put things back."Elliott's family is one of 140 families the Red Cross helped over the last week. Evacuees were offered food, first aid, hotel rooms and more.Red Cross Regional CEO Shawn Mahoney said they served 1,200 meals on Wednesday alone.This was Elliott's first time having to evacuate, and he told ABC 10News, "With the dogs and my mother-in-law visiting and all of our stuff, we thought we should evacuate just to be on the safe side.”Elliott checked on his home Tuesday to make sure it hadn't been damaged in the fire. He said he'll have to clean out the refrigerator, but that's the only issue.Many others weren't as lucky.Cal Fire said 30 homes and 29 other buildings were destroyed in the fire.
