SEATTLE (KGTV) -- Officials in Washington are investigating a hijacking from Sea-Tac Airport Friday night. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the plane was stolen by a 29-year-old suicidal man. The Pierce County Sheriff confirms that the stolen Horizon airplane crashed into Ketron Island. Preliminary information is that a mechanic from an unknown airline stole the plane and was doing stunts in the air and lack of flying skills caused the person to crash. Two military F-15 chased the plane but were not involved in the crash.  581

(KGTV) - A serial killer and former Camp Pendleton Marine who was sentenced to the death penalty may have killed himself at San Quentin State Prison Friday, prison officials said.Andrew Urdiales, 54, was found unresponsive during a security check of his cell late Friday night, according to staff members. Correctional officers performed CPR but Urdiales was pronounced dead less than an hour later.An autopsy will be performed but his death is being investigated as a suicide, officials said.RELATED: Serial killer convicted of Southern California murdersAn Orange County jury sentenced Urdiales to death one month ago for the murders of five women in San Diego, Mission Viejo, Palm Springs, and Cathedral City in the 1980s and 90s. Urdiales had been previously convicted of killing three Illinois women in the 1990s.Urdiales’ victim in San Diego, 31-year-old Maryann Wells, was shot in the head in a deserted industrial complex on Second Ave. in downtown San Diego in 1988. Investigators said Urdiales had sex with Wells then took back the he had paid her. Urdiales left behind a condom that eventually provided a DNA link, implicating him in the case.Another death row inmate was found dead Sunday night at San Quentin. Virendra Govin was convicted of killing four people by setting their home on fire in 2004. Govin's death is also being investigated as a suicide. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the U.S. is considering a ban on Chinese social media apps, including the wildly popular short video platform TikTok.In an interview Monday with Fox News' Laura Ingraham, Pompeo said people should only download the app if they want their private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a company based in Beijing. Though the app has said that it operates independently from the Chinese government, it also claims its data centers are located outside China and not subject to Chinese law.Pompeo's remarks came hours ahead of an announcement by TikTok that said it would no longer operate the app in Hong Kong.The company said Tuesday in a statement that it had decided to halt operations "in light of recent events."TikTok's departure from Hong Kong comes as various social media platforms and messaging apps — including Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google and Twitter — balk at the possibility of providing user data to Hong Kong authorities.The social media companies say they are assessing the ramifications of the national security law.India banned TikTok earlier this month amid a border standoff between Chinese and Indian troops. 1226

Sears is getting serious about selling Kenmore.The struggling retailer announced Monday that it had formed a "special committee" to explore the sale of its in-house appliance brand.The move comes less than a month after Sears CEO Eddie Lampert wrote a letter to the board urging it to sell the brand. He offered to buy it himself if necessary, along with other assets.There is a good chance that Lampert will be the one buying Kenmore.Through his hedge fund, ESL Investments, Lampert owns a majority of shares in Sears Holding, the company that owns the Sears and Kmart chains.Sears has been exploring a possible sale of Kenmore and other assets for a number of years but never found a buyer. But this week it escalated its efforts by forming the "special committee," retaining counsel and bringing on an investment bank.The announcement was enough to briefly lift Sears shares 19% in early trading Monday, before they retreated to more modest gains of about 6%.Shares are still near historic lows. The retailer has admitted "substantial doubts" exist that it will be able to remain in business.Lampert has insisted that the company is on a path to return to profitability. But it is in need of cash and has been closing stores, cutting costs and getting creditors to agree to a longer repayment schedule on its debt. Because of that delayed repayment schedule, Sears was judged to be in default of some of its loans earlier this year.In early 2017 Sears sold its Craftsman tool brand to Stanley Black & Decker in a deal valued at 0 million. McGrath, 73, acknowledged in an interview with the Mercury News of San Jose that the price tag is "a lot of money," saying "I could understand" it might not sit well with some parishioners.The nearly 3,300-square-foot (306 square-meter) home's listing boasts of a "grand-sized chef's kitchen," ''soaring ceilings" and "luxurious master ensuite" with a "spa-like marble bathroom" in a "Tuscan estate."It was purchased with funds set aside for paying the costs of a bishop's housing and upkeep after retirement, said diocese communications director Liz Sullivan. She said the diocese was "following the policy set forth by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops" in purchasing the home.McGrath said the diocese also got the proceeds from selling a condominium where his predecessor, retired Bishop Pierre DuMaine, lived before moving into assisted living."The fund is a fund that can be used for nothing else," McGrath said. "When I'm not around anymore, the house can be sold. It's a good investment in that sense.
