A measure of hiring by U.S. companies has fallen to a seven-year low and fewer employers are raising pay, a business survey has found.Just one-fifth of the economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics said their companies have hired additional workers in the past three months. A United States postal service worker was shot and killed while making deliveries in Louisiana, authorities said.The postal worker, identified as Antonio Williams, 52, was shot Saturday morning in Shreveport, according to Caddo County spokesman John Prime.He was making deliveries around 11:20 a.m. when the attack happened, and was declared dead at the hospital.Shreveport Police and federal authorities are investigating the shooting. 448

A patient at Seattle Children's Hospital has died from a mold infection.The patient was one of six to develop an infection from 2018-2019, according to Alyse Bernal, public relations manager for the hospital.The infections follow several operating rooms being shut down in May by the detection of Aspergillus mold in the air. The hospital said that the risk to patients was low, but that it was contacting those who might have been exposed.The Children's Hospital patient died after developing an Aspergillus infection in 2018, Bernal said. Details about the patient and the case have not been shared for the sake of privacy.Gaps in air filtration is believed to have been key in the presence of mold, Bernal said. While the hospital works with outside industrial hygienists to clear the rooms of Aspergillus contamination, all 14 of the hospital's main operating rooms remain closed, Bernal said."We are systematically implementing improvements and corrective actions, and then retesting the air to validate our efforts have been effective. It is difficult to predict when we will be able to safely resume operations but our patients' safety is our priority and we will reopen our operating rooms when we are confident they are safe for patient care," Bernal said.Aspergillus is a common mold that most people breathe without getting sick but that poses a greater risk to those with weakened immune systems or lung disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A New York man is in custody after having been arrested and charged with threatening to assault and murder Rep. Ilhan Omar, according to the US Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York.Patrick W. Carlineo, Jr., 55, of Addison, New York, threatened to kill Omar because of her Muslim faith, according to a criminal complaint and accompanying affidavit.Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, is one of the first two Muslim women serving in Congress after being elected in the 2018 midterms.A call was placed to Omar's Washington, DC, office on March 21, an FBI agent stated in the affidavit.During the call, an individual, who identified himself as Pat Carlineo, said to a staff member: "Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her, she's a (expletive) terrorist. I'll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull."Omar's office referred the threat to the US Capitol Police, which began an investigation with the FBI.Carlineo sounded angry during the call but provided the spelling of his name and contact information, the affidavit said.He was later interviewed by authorities where he stated that he was a patriot, that he loves President Donald Trump, and "that he hates radical Muslims in our government," the affidavit stated.He had initially claimed he had told Omar's office, "If our forefathers were still alive, they'd put a bullet in her head."When shown an email with the quote from the call regarding calling Omar a "terrorist" and threatening to kill her, Carlineo first replied that is not what he had said, according to the affidavit.He later admitted to authorities he may have said something like that but was unsure. A Racine man was arrested Wednesday while expecting a pizza delivery. Mount Pleasant Police Officers were called to Toppers Pizza regarding fraudulent money they had repeatedly received from a house.Officers confirmed that the money was fake and were notified that the same address had called again with a food order.Officers went with the delivery driver to the address and knocked on the door. When the suspect answered and asked if it was Toppers they officers responded "Yeah" and the door opened.Before officers could introduce themselves to explain why they were there, the suspect tried to slam the door and the officers pushed back.The suspect, identified as Raymond Prideaux, did not comply with orders to stop resisting so officers tased him. He has been charged with obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.Prideaux has a lengthy criminal history including possession of THC, retail theft and OWI. 926
