(KGTV) — An 8-year-old Guatemalan boy in the care of U.S. Customs and Border Protection died shortly after midnight Tuesday in New Mexico, officials say.The child was in CBP custody when an agent noticed him showing signs of illness Monday. The child and his father were transferred to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in New Mexico, where staff diagnosed the boy with a common cold and fever.The boy was released with prescriptions for Ibuprofen and amoxicillin later that day, officials said.RELATED: The final hours of Jakelin Caal Maquin, the Guatemalan girl who died in Border Patrol custodyMonday night, officials said the boy began vomiting and was taken back to the medical center, where officials say he died shortly after midnight Tuesday. Officials said more information would be released shortly.The boy's death is the second death of a child in CBP care this month. (KGTV) - A San Diego man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he stabbed two classmates during a reenactment of a movie scene at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.The man, identified as Jake Wascher, 21, was in an on-campus apartment with two male classmates when the stabbing occurred."A 21 year old male suffered one puncture wound to the chest and four to the back. A second victim a 19 year old male suffered from a single puncture wound to the chest as well as a puncture wound to the back," Lieutenant Paul Cicero with Hartford Police said.Wascher attended the Coronado School of the Arts, a pre-professional arts education program on Coronado High School's campus. His Facebook page states he graduated in 2016.10News spoke with a former student of CoSA, who worked as a tech for a year."CoSA is really a mostly just a bunch of nerds, all of the acting kids and music students, just dorks really," Christian Molenaar said. "I feel like most people aren't worried about getting stabbed in high school theater," he said.Molenaar was shocked when he learned of the events that unfolded Sunday, saying his younger sister graduated the same year as Wascher.Police say Wascher fled the crime scene and hid in a nearby wooded area, then gave himself up. (KGTV) -- A former Marine has been sentenced to 17 years in state prison for driving drunk the wrong way on state Route 163 in Mission Valley, then crashing head-on into another car killing two UCSD medical students.Jason Riley King, 24, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.According to testimony throughout the trial, several people told King that he was too drunk to drive, but he got behind the wheel anyway, driving the wrong way on state Route 163 and crashing into the Prius.The 2015 crash killed 23-year-old Madison Cornwell and 24-year-old Anne Li Baldock.  Three classmates also riding in the Prius were seriously injured.The crash inspired a new law in the state of California that will require all bartenders and servers to take a class on how to spot someone who’s had too much to drink.Following the crash, classmates of the victims worked with Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) on assembly bill 1221, also know as the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program Act of 2017.The law was approved by Governor Jerry Brown on October 15, 2017 and goes into effect July 1, 2021. 1164

(CNN) -- Police in Tennessee arrested a man named Tupac A. Shakur, 40, after they say he pulled a knife on them and was found with methamphetamine.Officers with the Johnson City Police Department, about 25 minutes from Bristol, received calls Friday about Shakur who had active warrants for his arrest from another department, according to a news release from Johnson police.When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a car with Shakur inside. Officers attempted to arrest Shakur, but he pulled away and reached for his waistband, the release said.Shakur then turned toward officers with a knife before officers took him down. Officers found a syringe and baggies of meth on Shakur, the release said.Shakur was charged with aggravated assault, simple meth possession and having unlawful drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a ,000 bond. He is set to be arraigned Monday, the release said.It was not clear Sunday whether Shakur has legal representation.Shakur shares the same name, even the same middle initial, as the late rapper Tupac Shakur who was killed in September 1996 at age 25. 1144
