SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thirty roosters abandoned last month are in need of a new home.The roosters were left at an Escondido feed store on Dec. 28, 2019, with a note from the owner explaining they could no longer take care of them, the San Diego Humane Society says.SDHS says the roosters all appear to be healthy and social with each other and humans.Anyone interested in adopting the roosters can do so through SDHS' Escondido campus. Officials advise potential new owners to check with their city to make sure they are allowed to have a rooster, as some city ordinances prohibit the animals.Anyone who is unable to care for their pets are also advised to take them to a SDHS campus rather than abandoning them. SDHS is an open shelter and will never turn an animal away. 777

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thousands of people visited Seaport Village Saturday to watch outdoor entertainers at the 14th Annual Busker Fest 2020. As the fear of coronavirus spreads, attendees of the festival seemed unbothered by it.Gather around! Let your eyes and ears feast on the marvels of jugglers, daredevils, and aerialists."Buskers have always been a big part of our history down at Seaport Village," Scott Andrews, Marketing Director of Seaport Village, said. Coming to the festival has become a seven-year tradition for Shannon Steward and her nine-year-old son, Aiden. "I like supporting the street performers!" Stewart said. "I never even knew what a busker was until I found out about this festival."New this year: Busker University. It's a special place where kids can learn about art and busking skills. One of the most popular booths is the slime station. Children can make slime by mixing Borax, water, and glue. After playing at the slime station, the kids are encouraged to wash their hands by using either baby wipes or hand sanitizer.Ahead of the event, San Diego Port Authority added hand-washing stations all along the Embarcadero, to quell growing fears of the coronavirus. Regardless, Stewart said good hygiene is something she always preaches to her family. "We are making sure we are washing our hands, not touching too many things, but obviously, we are kind of diving into the slime and no big deal!" Stewart said. She said she is not going to let fear and hysteria ruin their fun."It's at the forefront of our minds, but it's not changing too much of what we are doing right now," Stewart said. "Now, that may change in a couple of weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The trial started Wednesday for two San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies facing criminal charges after an arrest in Vista. Deputies Nicholas Morgan and Joshua Nahan are charged with assault for what District Attorney Summer Stephan calls illegal actions during the encounter. Gerardo Martinez Jr. and his father were taken into custody last May after the deputies responded to a domestic violence call. Part of the 911 call was played for jurors during opening statements Tuesday. The panel also saw cell phone video of the arrest recorded by a neighbor. The now-viral video shows Deputy Nahan push Martinez Sr. into a fence while handcuffed. Martinez Jr. was repeatedly struck in the head by Deputy Morgan while on a concrete sidewalk. “Law enforcement officers hold a position of trust in our community and are required to abide by the rules in the exercise of their powers. The evidence on which the charges are based shows the force used by the two deputies exceeded the legal line, violating that public trust. For justice to thrive, it is important that no one is above the law,” Stephan said in November. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy offloaded 5,100 pounds of seized cocaine Friday, worth an estimated wholesale value of million.The drugs were brought off Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Edmonton at Naval Base San Diego.The crews aboard the HMCS Edmonton were able to capture vessels smuggling the drugs in the Eastern Pacific in 49 days, detaining eight suspected smugglers.“Criminals don’t recognize international borders,” said Vice Adm. Linda Fagan, USCG Pacific area Commander. “I am particularly just excited to see this level of effort.
