But the newest quarter to be minted got quite a response on social media this week. "The image evokes the remarkable care and energy that this species puts into their offspring. The design is intended to promote awareness to the species’ threatened status due to habitat loss and commercial hunting. The National Park of American Samoa is the only park in the United States that is home to the Samoan fruit bat."American Samoa is a US territory in the Pacific Ocean that is home to 55,000 residents. House lawmakers have passed a bill that makes animal cruelty a federal felony.The so- called "PACT Act" specifically bans crushing, burning, drowning and impaling animals, among other things.It would also allow officials to go after suspected animal abusers who cross state lines.But according to its co-sponsor, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., it would also close a big loophole.His office says the bill would specifically ban animal cruelty recorded on video.Previous laws have de-legalized creating and selling those videos, but not the acts of cruelty in them.Another co-sponsor of the bill, U.S. Rep.
