SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County sheriff's deputies fished a man out of the ocean in Del Mar who they say rammed a Border Patrol truck at the end of a dangerous chase.According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's North Coastal Station, it all started when deputies tried to pull the man over in a blue Smart car driving with no lights or a license plate.The driver failed to stop and took out a road sign then drove the wrong way down Coast Boulevard in Del Mar around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.A few minutes later, the man crashed into a Border Patrol truck at the dead-end of 15th Street. No one was inside the truck at the time.Border Patrol agents spotted the driver running towards the beach.The man jumped over the bluffs' edge and plunged naked into the water, where he spent two hours in the surf.He was taken into custody after he was fished out of the ocean by a Border Patrol boat around 4:15 a.m.Deputies are currently attempting to identify the suspect. 982
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police have released a sketch of an attempted homicide suspect they say tried to rob a man at Emerald Hills Park last month.On July 11 at about 2 p.m., a 23-year-old man was at Emerald Hills Park when an unknown suspect tried to grab his cell phone from a park table. A fight started between the man and suspect before the suspect displayed a box cutter and told the man, "I am going to kill you," police said.The suspect stabbed the man in the left arm with the box cutter and strangled the man, before fleeing the scene. The suspect was last seen walking into a canyon near KeltonRoad and State Route 94.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for the cut to his left arm requiring 18 staples.The suspect was described as a Black male, about 40 years old, standing about 6-feet tall, and weighing 170 pounds. He has a thin mustache and goatee, and had "Jaundice" or yellowing to the white portion of his eyes, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police arrested a woman last week for reportedly sex trafficking two young girls. According to police, the woman, identified as Desiree Morton, called officers on July 17 to report that she was a victim of domestic violence and that her boyfriend stole her vehicle. When officers responded to the unspecified location, they found Morton, along with two other girls police say appeared to be younger than 18 and had no identification cards. Police say the girls also had tattoos along their jaws. The two girls later told investigators they were 14 and 15-years-old. Officers arrested Morton after she reportedly admitted to prostituting the girls. The girls were taken into protective custody. 732
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are looking for more possible victims of a Balboa Park street performer suspected of multiple sexual assaults. Luis Martinez-Haaz, 22, was arrested May 3 in relation to several open cases from April, officers said.Police said Martinez-Haaz worked as a street performer and dancer in Balboa Park, and would often approach women after his shows. He convinced them to walk to isolated areas where he would sexually assault them, investigators said. San Diego Police Sex Crimes Unit detectives are searching for any additional victims or people with information related to the cases. Martinez-Haaz is 5’7” and 145 pounds with short brown wavy hair.
