(KGTV) - After serving the beach communities of Pacific Beach and La Jolla for more than 60 years, Pernicano’s Family Restaurant will be closing.Johnny Pernicano Sr., the restaurant's enigmatic founder, still comes every night, singing to patrons with his piano and accordion.“I learned how to play all the instruments just by being here every night,” said Pernicano.He and his nine brothers began opening restaurants across San Diego after World War II. As the youngest son, he started off making pizzas in his older brother’s restaurant. But by the mid ’50s, he went off on his own to build the restaurant that’s now on Turquoise Street on the southern edge of La Jolla.Since then, it’s served as the reliable home for birthdays, reunions, fundraisers and family dinners across San Diego.It’s one of three surviving Pericano’s in the county. Two of his nephews, now in their 70's, operate locations in El Cajon and Poway. KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  Multiple officials in Leavenworth County, Kansas are urging a county commissioner to resign after the white commissioner told a black woman at a meeting that he was part of "the master race."Leavenworth County Commissioner Louis Klemp made the comments at a meeting about a land-use study on Tuesday."I don’t want you to think I am picking on you because we are part of the master race. You have a gap in your teeth. We are part of the master race, don’t you forget that," Klemp said.  “It affects all of Leavenworth. This has been such negative publicity. It affects us. It affects the city,” Leavenworth mayor Mark Preisinger said. “It’s a stain on our community and it has to be removed.” "I was shocked. I was in disbelief," fellow commissioner Robert Holland said. "He should resign. LA JOLLA (CNS) - A woman's body was found Sunday on the shoreline below cliffs in La Jolla, police said.At 6:40 a.m., someone found the body about 75 feet below the cliffs near Coast Walk, north of Torrey Pines Road, according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.Lifeguards recovered the body, which was taken with a Jet Ski to La Jolla Shores, where they met with officials from the county Medical Examiner's Office.There was no additional information on the victim, Martinez said. 514

KENOSHA, Wis. — A Wisconsin high school teacher is on paid leave after students recorded her using a racial slur on camera during class.The teacher can be heard repeatedly using the “N-word” several times while students in the class laugh. The parent of the student who took the video told WTMJ the incident started when a student at Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin used the word with another student.That’s when the parent said the teacher used the slur and said that she should be able to use it because it is used within the African-American community. At Tuesday’s Kenosha Unified School District board meeting, representatives from the community’s Coalition for Dismantling Racism spoke about the incident.“Our concern is the total lack of action from the administration.
