SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cinema Makeup School is at San Diego Comic-Con to turn some lucky attendees into zombies with special makeup effects.The Los Angeles-based theatrical makeup school is one of many special effects companies at the convention. 10News' Brooke Sargent volunteered for a complete transformation, becoming a dreaded creature in about 90 minutes as a crowd looked on.Cinema Makeup School has been teaching some of the industry's best artists since 1993. 472

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Border Patrol agents say they found human remains in the Tijuana River Valley early Saturday.The agents discovered the human remains near the Tijuana River just before 8:20 a.m. on Dairy Mart Road and Clear Water Way, according to City News Service and Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison.The investigation was turned over to the San Diego Police Department's homicide detectives. 10News has reached out to San Diego Police, but have yet to hear back.No further information was immediately available.City News Service contributed to this report. 572

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating a man's death after they say he died following a fight. Police were called to the 5600 block of Imperial Avenue in Valencia Park around 1:12 p.m. after receiving reports of a man having chest pains. After arriving, the 51-year-old man -- identified as San Diego resident Joseph Ives -- was taken to the hospital where he later died.Police later learned that Ives got into a fight shortly before his death. According to police, after an altercation with another man, Ives told a witness that he was experiencing chest pains. Ives "did not have any obvious signs of trauma to his body," police said. Out of caution, San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the death.  773

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Attendance may have dipped at one of San Diego's biggest tourist destinations, but it may not be doom and gloom for the theme park.A new report from the Themed Entertainment Association shows Americans are heading out for fun at top parks around the U.S. The report says the country's top 20 parks saw a 2.3 percent increase overall in 2017.In San Diego, however, the draw to get people into parks wasn't nearly as positive.RELATED: SeaWorld San Diego's new Electric Eel roller coaster opens to the publicSeaWorld San Diego had 3.1 million visitors in 2017, a 13.9 percent drop from 2016's attendance of 3.6 million. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – California and two other Western states have issued travel advisories that include a 14-day quarantine for those visiting the states or returning home from outside travel.California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee put the advisories into action for their respective states on Friday. The announcement comes as travel is expected to ramp up for the holidays.The advisories urge “visitors entering their states or returning home from travel outside these states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus. The travel advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local.”CALIFORNIA TRAVEL ADVISORY ANNOUNCEMENTIn addition to the self-quarantine, the advisories recommend travelers “limit their interactions to their immediate household. The advisories define essential travel as travel for work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care and safety and security.”Newsom said in a news release, “Travel increases the risk of spreading COVID-19, and we must all collectively increase our efforts at this time to keep the virus at bay and save lives.”Brown added, “COVID-19 does not stop at state lines. As hospitals across the West are stretched to capacity, we must take steps to ensure travelers are not bringing this disease home with them. If you do not need to travel, you shouldn’t. This will be hard, especially with Thanksgiving around the corner. But the best way to keep your family safe is to stay close to home.”“Limiting and reducing travel is one way to reduce the further spread of the disease.
