SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego State University study abroad student and a University of San Diego graduate student have both tested positive for the coronavirus, the universities announced Friday.The SDSU student was studying abroad in Italy and recently returned home to the United States. The student is self-isolating at his home outside of San Diego County, the university said in a release.They added that the student visited two off campus offices for a brief period of time, and did not attend any classes."Due to the student's limited contact with the campus, we consider that the risk to the greater SDSU campus community is low," said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer.A graduate student at the University of San Diego also tested positive for the virus, the university said Friday in a tweet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An atmospheric river is set to bring widespread showers -- which could lead to flooding -- to San Diego County the next week.Rain is expected to come down Monday afternoon and finally taper off Thursday, with the most widespread and heavy rainfall coming Tuesday.Initial forecasts show rain totaling 1 to 3 inches for most areas of San Diego, with up to 5 inches of snow in some mountain locations, according to 10News weather anchor Vanessa Paz.WEATHER: 10News' updated forecast for San Diego CountyAccording to the National Weather Service, localized flooding will be possible Tuesday and typically dry desert areas will see significant flow. Thunderstorms will also be possible in some areas.Heavy showers are expected to continue Wednesday morning, with more roadway and local flooding possible, NWS reported.Thursday, if showers continue, flooding could continue to be an issue. Though, currently showers are expected to ease. Showers are expected to move out of the county by Friday.The showers are expected to help San Diego's reservoirs for the rest of the year. Currently, much of California is either "abnormally dry" or in a "moderate drought." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A similar Observation Wheel to those in England and Paris could come to Balboa Park for a short term stay.The Cohn Restaurant Group and Sky Views of America presented the idea of the Balboa Park Star to the Balboa Park Committee Meeting on October 1.They hope the wheel would attract more visitors and re-energize the park."We have operated these observation wheels during the pandemic," Vice President of Sky Views of America Ben Pickett said.The gondolas are enclosed and climate controlled. According to the presentation, they are sanitized after each ride and safety protocols comply with state, local and CDC guidelines. Masks would be required for passengers and staff. The presentation was met with excitement by the committee."I love the fact it is innovative and outside the box," Committee Member Victoria Curran said. "This is a terrific idea, I love it!" Committee Member Johanna Schiavoni added."Sometimes it's the craziest ideas that are the best ones," Committee Member Micah Parzen said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Ocean Beach man says he was home when two burglars in a white Mercedes-Benz were raiding his garage and stealing his vehicle.      Along Lotus Street last week around 1:30 in the afternoon, Evan Montoya was in his upstairs bedroom and never heard a thing.  But when he later went down to the garage, he noticed some things were out of place and his car keys were gone.  Outside, the car belonging to Montoya - an Uber and Lyft driver - was nowhere to be found."My heart sank into the pit of my stomach.  That's my livelihood.  They took my entire world when they took my car," said Montoya.But that was hardly the entire loss.  Montoya believes the intruders slipped under the garage door - left open because the garage gets hot - before grabbing anything electric."Basically they went on a shopping spree through our garage and took whatever they wanted," said Montoya.  After the break-in, a neighbor handed him surveillance video showing a white Mercedes sedan stopping in the alley in front of the garage.  In the video, a man and a woman are seen going back and forth to their garage, before they finally drive off."Makes you feel unsafe in your home, which is the one place you're supposed to feel safe," said Montoya.Montoya's car was found abandoned a few days later.  Meanwhile, the video has been shared by neighbors across social media.  Some seven other neighbors have reported similar, recent break-ins. "People going through alleys stealing from houses," said Montoya.If you have any information on the cases, call Crimestoppers at 888-580-8477. 1659
