(KGTV) - On Thanksgiving Day, one Bonita family hosted dozens of volunteers who assembled gift bags for children in need.The tradition started seven years ago when Diane Zoura and her family went to an orphanage in Tecate, Mexico, and helped with their Christmas Party. They brought gifts and loved the impact they had on the children.Every year since, they raise money and stuff gift bags for foster children in San Diego. In 2017, the County of San Diego reported 2,300 children in foster care. The average age was 8 years old and most of those kids suffered neglect or abuse from their birth-parents. This year their gifts are reaching farther, partnering with the non-profit Build A Miracle, to give presents to kids in need in Tijuana."It takes ,000 to build and furnish homes for families in need in Tijuana, Mexico," 13-year-old Gabriel said. He and his family raised money and sponsored homes in the past. Thursday he was stuffing bags to give to those in need."Just imagine without their home they're just living in this rain, getting wet and their clothes are soaked and they might not have anything else to change into," he said.Each bag has an assortment of items. Some on the list: bubbles, slime, puzzles, coloring books and crayons and a beanie."Especially orphans and those who don't have that much, who don't feel loved, so we're trying to plant seeds of hope and seeds of love into these children's lives," Zoura said. "If we just share love with other people how much better would the world be?"Zoura wants people to realize they don't have to be well off or dedicate a ton of time to volunteering to still make an impact, and that everyone can do their part to add a little magic this holiday season.This year the crew stuffed 750 bags, they hope with more help they can double it next year. 1838

BELTRAMI COUNTY, Minn. – A man who was hunting in northwest Minnesota was shot and killed by another hunter last week.The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Lukas R. Dudley was shot by 33-year-old Rain Stately last Wednesday and it appeared to be an accident.The men were reportedly not hunting together.Around Dusk, Stately told authorities that he saw movement of what he thought was a deer and then fired one round from his rifle.“When he discovered Dudley, he immediately called 911 and is cooperating with the investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.The sheriff’s office says Dudley was not wearing the typical blaze orange or other high-visibility clothing.Dudley was transported to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Two Sonic employees were killed and multiple others were injured in a shooting at a restaurant near Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday. The Bellevue Police Department (BPD) said during a Sunday press conference that there were five victims, all of whom were employees of the Sonic restaurant. Lt. Andy Jashinke identified the deceased as 22-year-old Nathan Pastrana and 28-year-old Ryan Helbert. They were declared dead at the scene. Two other victims, 18-year-old Zoey Reese Atalig Lujan and 25-year-old Kenneth Germe, were transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a "Code 3," which Jashinske described as being in critical or near critical condition. A fifth victim had minor injuries. No officers were injured.The police have released body camera footage from their response, showing the shooting suspect, 23-year-old Roberto C. Silva Jr., being arrested at the scene.Jashinske offered condolences to the loved ones of the deceased, as well as prayers and thoughts for those who were injured. At team of officers on the east side observed victims inside the restaurant and performed first aid immediately on three victims. Police believe it was brought there by the suspect and confirmed that it was in flames and was burned up.Officers located at total of four firearms on the scene.The suspect was not armed when he was arrested. BOULDER CITY, Nev. – What was supposed to be a routine bike ride turned into deadly crash in Nevada.Thursday morning, a box truck plowed into a group of bicyclists on U.S. 95, killing five of them.At least three other bicyclists were injured. One was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition from the scene south of Boulder City. Another one was transported by ambulance and is in serious condition. The third bicyclist suffered minor injuries.Troopers with Nevada Highway Patrol say the driver of the box truck was not hurt and is cooperating with police. They don’t believe at this time that the driver was impaired.The bicyclists did have a safety car with them at the time of the incident. However, one group of cyclists was in front of the car and the other was behind. It is not known which group was struck.“I don’t even know. It’s just the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life," said former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer Michael Anderson.He was collecting his thoughts after a horrific day. Five of his fellow bicyclists were killed after that box truck struck their group.“Try to contact their families... I don’t even know how to say it to them,” he said.Anderson says the wind caused part of the group to get behind a safety vehicle to protect themselves when the box truck hit them.
