There have been plenty of presidential elections when Nebraska hasn't cross too many minds. After all, it's a relatively conservative state where President Donald Trump won by 25 points in 2016. But this election, Democrats aren't forgetting about Nebraska, or more specifically, Omaha. DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY Nebraska and Maine are the two states that award their Electoral College votes based off results in individual congressional districts. For instance, in 2008, John McCain and Barack Obama both received Electoral College votes from Nebraska. In Nebraska, two Electoral College votes goes to the statewide winner and one Electoral College vote goes to the winner in each of the state's three congressional districts. A total of five Electoral College votes is at stake. While Trump will again carry the statewide vote and two of the state's congressional districts, it is unclear what will happen in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Omaha, Nebraska. Democrats believe there is a chance. "For whatever the reason, there are a lot of Democrats and independents saying they are going to vote for Biden," Bob Kerrey, the former Democratic governor and U.S. Senator from Nebraska, said. Republicans aren't conceding by any stretch, although they acknowledge it will be close. "We have more people than ever with boots on the ground knocking on doors," Theresa Thibodeau, chair of the Douglas County GOP, which includes Omaha, said. HOW IT COULD COME DOWN TO OMAHA If the election is close, there is a scenario where it all comes down to Omaha. If the projections in most states hold true -- and Trump wins the swing states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania & one congressional district in Maine and Joe Biden wins the battleground states of Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin -- how Omaha votes could decide the election. DEMOCRATS VS REPUBLICANS Of course Republicans in Nebraska don't particularly like the way in which their state allocates votes. "We should move our state back to a winner takes all," Thibodeau said. Former Senator Kerrey, obviously, disagrees. "We figured out how to do it right, to have a winner take all system basically throws out Republican and Democratic votes depending on where you live," Kerrey said. 2290

This Labor Day Weekend, Denver is basking in 90-degree heat. As Labor Day comes to a close, the city could be buried in several inches of snow.Despite the major heat wave sweeping the Rocky Mountains, a cold front is set to sweep across parts of Rockies, bringing freezing cold and even some snow.“A significant change in the weather will occur late Monday into Tuesday,” the National Weather Service said. “Temperatures will plummet behind a strong cold front with rain and snow forming. Snow levels will drop sharply and accumulating snow is likely across the mountains and foothills."The National Weather Service also warned the area for possible power outages due to the snow falling on live vegetation.The weather is just as extreme in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The area is under a red flag warning for possible fires as temperatures will reach the 90s this weekend. There are thousands of suitcases in Ocean City over the summer, but police found one packed with something unusual on Tuesday. According to Lt. Schreier of the Worcester County Sherriff’s office, a couple stumbled over a trunk in the water in West Ocean City at Homer Gudelsky Park. Inside they found personal objects like shoes and pottery as well as one or two bones. Maryland State Police, Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office are on the beach investigating, and a dive team was trying to pull the trunk from the water in hopes of reserving anything that could be evidence.  664

Three summer camps in two different states have closed after staff members and campers tested positive for COVID-19.According to the Stone County Health Department's Facebook page, 82 campers, counselors, and staff members at the Kanakuk K-2 Camp in Lampe, Missouri, tested positive for the deadly virus. 312

There's a new concept to contraception, and you may start seeing more advertising for it soon.It's an app, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just gave it the green light to start marketing.Natural Cycles claims to help prevent pregnancy by allowing women to track the days they are most fertile. It uses a woman's monthly cycle information and their body temperature, which users input daily.The app provides a calendar of green and red days. Green days indicate you're not fertile, while red days suggest you are.The app claims its’s 93 percent effective if used correctly. That estimate may be high though.Planned Parenthood, in general, claims fertility awareness is only between 76 and 88 percent effective.Regardless, the app does nothing to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.   The president of Advocates for Youth, a national organization that promotes young people’s rights to sexual health information, says there are some concerns surrounding the app.“Especially for many younger women, their cycle isn’t exactly regular, so if you've got an irregular cycle or you really don’t understand the implications of using fertility awareness, it’s a tough method to use,” explains Deb Hauser. “It’s not by any means foolproof.”The Natural Cycles app costs for a year or a month.The free trial offer isn't really going to help you, because it takes a few months for the app to get to know your body. 1445
