(KGTV) - The driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash in Encinitas that left a mother with severe injuries was sentenced Monday to one year in jail.Justin Parker hit Ashley Lane on Encinitas Blvd. in September 2017. She suffered multiple broken bones, strokes, and partial paralysis.Parker turned himself in two weeks after the hit and run, as investigators were closing in on tips from the community. Investigators say Parker had been drinking prior to the incident.Investigators said Parker drove his truck to a repair shop in Riverside county to repair the damage. Lane made a victim impact statement in Vista court Monday, calling Parker 'selfish' and 'cowardly'."The only reason you turned yourself in was because of the tips from the community of Encinitas and the hard work from my father. My girls have been hurt the most in this," Lane said.  900

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed in the 100 block of Estrelita Drive in Vista Friday night. Police say the white pickup truck involved in the crash fled the scene. The crash happened at 8:18 p.m., according to police. Two hours later police found an abandoned vehicle down the road that matches the pickup described in the crash. (KGTV) — Two brothers are behind bars after deputies say they got into a road rage incident and robbed a driver in Vista.On Tuesday, just before 9:30 a.m. near the 1300 block of Melrose Way, San Diego Sheriff's Department says Matthew, 29, and John, 23, Giordano were driving in a lifted grey Silverado pick-up truck. Deputies say for some reason, Matthew became angry and began to follow another vehicle and displayed a weapon to the driver.At one point, the truck cut off the driver and came to a stop, deputies say.Deputies said Matthew got out of his truck and started punching the driver's side window. Once the driver opened the door, Matthew took about ,000 worth of jewelry and money from the driver, deputies added.During the confrontation, John used a metal tool to smash the driver's windshield and the windshield of a second car not involved in the original incident, deputies say. The brothers then drove off.One of the victims suffered minor injuries from broken glass. Damage to both cars was estimated between ,000 and ,000.SDSO investigators say they gathered enough evidence to serve a search warrant in the 1500 block of Sapphire Lane, where the Giordanos were arrested on several charges, including conspiracy and robbery. 1271

While many small businesses are struggling due to the pandemic, Jessica Cain's succulent business is flourishing. It's called "in Succulent Love", where the plant artist creates with succulent and pumpkin."I just kind of play around with them, arrange them, and then commit to gluing them."And there is a good reason as to why she likes working with succulent. "Ii found such a cool fascination to the colors, shapes, and varieties," she says.Now when Jessica graduated from college, she thought she'd go into public relations. Little did she know that her hobby would become her career."I actually started creating succulent pumpkins with my grandmother every fall as a hobby. I just posted some photos on social media my first year out of college, and it just blew up."So just a couple of years out of college and her hobby turned into an online store called "in Succulent Love. She also hosts teaching workshops, and she has even written a book titled "Stylish Succulent Designs.""I like to call it a succulent cookbook. Walt Disney World is not reopening its Polynesian Village Resort until next summer."Due to ongoing refurbishments at the Great Ceremonial House, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain closed until summer 2021," the company said on the resort's website. "The monorail service to this resort will be temporarily suspended beginning in early October 2020."The Beach Club Resort and BoardWalk Inn will remain closed "until further notice," the company added."Given the current situation, there are some Disney Resort hotels and other areas that are not, as of this time, being scheduled for reopening yet," the company said on its website.
