SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Department is investigating a video sent to several employees that depicts Hitler and makes "offensive" remarks about an investigation into officers eating inside a restaurant amid stay-at-home orders.The video was created after an internal investigation was launched over officers eating inside a restaurant during the state's stay-at-home order, said SDPD public-affairs Lt. Shawn Takeuchi. Those orders banned indoor dining at the time.Takeuchi says whoever created the video was clearly angry over the department's investigation into that incident.The video uses a clip from the 2004 film "Downfall," a German film depicting the final days of Adolf Hitler during World War II. A scene in the film showing an enraged Hitler yelling at military officials is used in various parody videos online.Takeuchi said the video being investigated added subtitles that, "negatively portrays the community and department leadership. The video also makes a homophobic comment regarding the Mayor."Mayor Todd Gloria, who took office this month, is the city's first openly gay mayor.The video surfaced on Saturday and began to circulate. Numerous department members who received the video alerted their supervisors. Internal Affairs was notified and started an investigation.Takeuchi called the video "extremely disturbing and offensive.""At this time, we do not know if this video was made by someone in the department or by someone who does not work at SDPD. We are still investigating to determine who was involved in creating it," said Takeuchi. "The department will not tolerate hateful speech of any kind. If the video was created by a department member, Chief Nisleit will take swift action. This is not who we are as a department. This is not who we are as San Diegans."Gloria responded to the video on Saturday, saying in a statement that, "I regret that this act by an apparently disgruntled individual is now reflecting poorly on our Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in San Ysidro and Tijuana are fearful of what will come next after hundreds of migrants rushed the border Sunday in a show of force.Commuters told 10News they fear that they won’t be able to get across a bridge in San Ysidro to work or cross over to see family.In Mexico, residents say they’re fed up with the flood of migrants. “Deport them back to where they are, let them over here. They need to get out of Tijuana because it's just crazy for us,” said Candace Sanchez, a Tijuana resident.On the US side, those with family south of the border are concerned with what the future holds. “It worries me that the border might get closed. I mean it's like uh what's going on? We've never really seen this before,” said Victor Juarez.Employees who depend on their jobs in the US are also frightened. “Kinda scary because you know, I mean, every day we just know that we have to do what we have to do every day just to survive,” said Dana Aviles.Many people missed a day of work due to Sunday’s border closure, taking a toll with the holiday gift-giving season approaching. “I just hope they get out of here in Tijuana and let our lives be normal again, you know,” added Sanchez. 1213

At first, the group of second- and third-grade students thought they were gathered to learn which student had won a bicycle after an essay challenge. One name was read. But then a second student won. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego gyms are closing amid coronavirus, forcing residents to work out from home and sparking many tips on how to stay fit amid COVID-19. 24-Hour fitness, a popular San Diego gym, sent out a message Monday night noting that the gym would close March 16 until further notice. "As we all grapple with the enormous scale and impact of the coronavirus in the U.S., it reminds us of how precious life is and the importance of protecting our own health," CEO Tony Ueber said in a news release. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego businessman Doug Manchester has suggestions about how to help the people of the Bahamas recover from Hurricane Dorian. “It's devastation. It's beyond all anything that anybody can imagine. The aerial pictures don't do it justice on how much devastation there really is,” Manchester told 10News Thursday. Manchester loaded his plane with supplies and went to work on the island nation with relief organizers. “When this happened, I wanted to go down there as a private citizen to see all I could do to help,” Manchester said. Rebuilding is going to be a long and expensive process but Manchester believes it will happen. “It's going to cost billions, so every little bit helps,” said Manchester. Manchester, who has a long history in the Bahamas, was nominated to be the ambassador by President Trump. The nomination has been on hold for more than a year. “It's political, but hopefully that will see itself through in the next couple months because I can do a lot more as an ambassador than I can as a private citizen." Manchester hopes San Diegans will be generous in their donations to the Bahamas whether it’s through his charitable foundation or another aid group. 1205
