DETROIT — It’s a video of the unknown that is posing many questions: What is it? Is it real? And what is it doing there?A family in Highland, Michigan, believes their house is haunted and what's even more disturbing is that whatever is haunting the home is doing harm to their little girl.Heather Brough and Joshua Higgins say they couldn't believe what they saw on their nanny cam."It’s almost like she sees something that we don’t," Brough said. It’s an image she and Higgins say is haunting their home."It was chilling," Higgins said. "It was literally a chill down your spine, like that 'what if' factor — is this what I just saw?"Caught on the couple's nanny cam video a few weeks ago is what appears to be something moving in front of the baby crib. The couple says it appears to be a ghost."I freaked out," Brough said. "I stopped what I was doing and I ran upstairs and grabbed my daughter."She says this so-called ghost scratched her daughter Lily and attacked her too."It scares us that it could do something else," Brough said. "I mean, there was a morning I woke up and I felt like someone’s hands were around my neck."A team of paranormal investigators came in and tried to answer some of the couple's questions and concerns. Higgins' father Jim says it may be someone who lived in this house before."The gentleman that lived here originally committed suicide apparently by jumping out this window, which is one story down," said Joshua's father, Jim Higgins, while recalling a story he was told about the home. The couple says they don’t know why this so-called ghost is targeting them, but say they don’t want any part of it."It’s not physically just going after her, it feels like it’s going after myself too," Brough said."I couldn’t get an explanation out of it, so it’s freaky is what it is," Higgins said.The couple says for now they are staying at the home in a room together with Lily until they have enough money to move. 1956

"It's restricted in this situation. It's also related to our sense of control. It's also an example of optimism bias, where we believe our likelihood of encountering these events is much lower than other people.""Humans have a contact need," Dr. Wayne Pernell said. "So, when it comes to people ignoring the social distancing order for that contact need, there's this sense of 'well I'm clean.' No one wants to feel like they're a carrier, and no one wants to feel like they're dirty."Some medical experts said that ignoring guidance from health experts can be disastrous. "I think the reason why people ignore the social distancing is because there are mixed messages about the severity from the White House," said Amy Fairchild, a public health ethicist and the dean of Ohio State University's College of Public Health. "I would say we are on a worse trajectory than China was on because China had better access to test early on. The capacity to enforce social distancing is better in China. There are an authoritarian nation and they are willing to use the police, law enforcement and the military in ways that we are not willing to use in this country. We have to rely far more on persuasion."In order to stay safe, medical experts suggest finding ways to connect with people while being physically apart."A lot of people say we shouldn't call it social distancing – we should call it physical distancing," Sharot said."Even just a month ago, we were saying put the tech down, reach out to somebody and connect with them in person," Pernell said. CINCINNATI — It's your right as an American to give people the finger, even if the recipient of your flipped bird is a police officer, a federal appeals court ruled this week.The case centered around Debra Cruise-Gulyas, a Michigan woman who displayed her middle finger to a police officer who had stopped her for speeding and written her a ticket for a lesser violation in 2017.The officer, Matthew Minard, then stopped the woman again less than 100 yards away and amended the ticket to a speeding violation.Cruise-Gulyas later sued Minard, alleging that he violated her constitutional rights by pulling her over the second time.The case eventually made its way to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, and a panel of judges ruled on Wednesday that stopping Cruise-Gulyas because of the gesture was a violation of her First Amendment rights."Fits of rudeness or lack of gratitude may violate the Golden Rule," Judge Jeffrey S.
