by holding his head under hot water in an attempt to cast out a demon appeared in federal court on Tuesday.31-year-old Pablo Martinez faces a first-degree federal murder charge in the death of his 6-year-old stepson, identified in court only by the initials G.B.Martinez allegedly drowned his son in a bathtub at the family's home on the Pascua Yaqui Reservation in Tucson last Thursday. Martinez told reservation police that the boy had been having "fits of rage," which he believed were caused by a demon.Martinez reportedly told police that the child was "demonic," and that he needed to save the boy. He allegedly said he "saw something evil in (the boy) and knew he had to cast the demon out."Martinez offered to give the boy a bath. He allegedly told officers that he held the child's head under the faucet for five to ten minutes with the water running into the boy's mouth. He also allegedly told officers that he noticed that "the hot water was casting out the demon."By treaty with the Pascua Yaqui Nation major crimes, there are Federal with the FBI leading many investigations. During his appearance in federal court Tuesday, attorneys did not argue for release on bond at this point. But how safe are these activities during the pandemic?Many businesses are doing their best to create safe, socially distanced and fun activities for families this fall.Benton Family Farms in Kentucky is encouraging people to still come out and grab a pumpkin this year."We probably have the best crop you could ever imagine," says Mary Marcum.Marcum's family has owned Benton Family Farms for more than 70 years. The pandemic has hit her family's nonprofit business extremely hard, but they're still committed to bringing some fun events to people in the autumn months."We’re actually having a craft show this weekend. I took that opportunity because all of the high schools were shut down, they couldn’t have their normal [craft exhibit]. Crafting is a big thing here," says Marcum.Dr. Kenny Banh is an emergency physician and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at UCSF-Fresno. Dr. Banh says certain outdoor events could be safe for families this fall."I think all outdoor activities, if done properly, can be done safely, and that includes pumpkin patches and stuff like that," says Dr. Banh.He says following local and state ordinances is key. Also, don't assume that just because an event is happening, that all safety precautions are being taken to protect people from spreading COVID-19."Make sure you’re aware of the difference between [the business being] open, we should do this to what you should be doing. I think the responsible thing is to not say, ‘No it's not ok but go in.’ Understand that this is what I should be looking for. Are we able to stay social distant while we’re at the event? A red flag would be, oh gosh, we’re doing a hay ride and we’re all stacked right next to each other doing a hay ride. Then they're probably not adhering to guidelines," says Dr. Banh.Dr. Banh says trunk-or-treat events that could have close contact without masks is likely a bad idea. Dr. Banh says many people have quarantine fatigue and are still wanting to get out and about. Just make sure that while you're looking to bring some pumpkin spice into your life this fall, that it doesn't come at a cost to your health and safety. 2313

After serving time in jail the past three and a half months, Montanez said she gave him a second chance to get his act together. WFTX reached out to the State Attorney's Office and Cape Coral police to try and get confirmation that this phone call happened Monday. They said they are looking into it but can't yet confirm Montanez's account. Authorities said they won't be able to release what is said in any of Wilson's phone calls from jail because it's still an active investigation. Wilson remains in the Lee County jail on unrelated charges. on their walk to school.Terri Johnson is a substitute crossing guard for Tooele City.This week as the weather has cooled down, she noticed some of the kids walking to school without coats.That’s when she came up with a simple idea to help out.“They’re going to school wrapped in blankets and that’s not enough,” Johnson said.This week she decided to do something about it. She posted on Facebook, asking people to donate coats for the kids.“It was just an idea to post it there and see what would happen; it has just been phenomenal,” Johnson said.She’s already seeing some response from the community, getting several small trash bags full of coats.She said there’s still more kids who need help, and she’s hoping the community will come together for not only the kids in Tooele, but those in other cities too.“I can’t do it by myself, but if you had something in your closet that your kids not wearing anymore, why not help somebody out?"
