“Is this an advertisement for why women should get tummy tucks?”? ? “Why aren’t there any fit women in this photo? Not every postpartum body is fat and loose.”? ? “Why has society made it ok to bash women who bounce back yet glorify women who can’t lose weight?”? ? “How about dieting?”? ? “Posts like this bother me. Not losing the weight is a choice.”? ? “I’m a mother of 4 but I’m also a smokin’ hot wife because that’s my duty. No way I’d be happy or settle to look like this.”? ? “Photos like this tear women apart.”? ? “So, you’re saying that skinny women don’t have real bodies?”? ? Just a small sample of the comments we’ve received over the past few days since our original post went live. It’s a shame that the point has been completely missed by some of the people that have taken time out of their day to comment. (The point being: the four of us have been friends online for a long time and finally met IRL and took a last minute photo together...of our different postpartum body types...to show that all body types are beautiful.)? ? If you look at this photo and your first thought is “why are there no skinny women”, you have bigger issues to deal with, my friend. You can look literally anywhere: film, TV, Instagram, magazines, video games and see skinny women. Other body types are absolutely underrepresented in media and it causes women with those body types to feel less than... to feel like they’re not good enough.? ? I want to encourage anyone who felt the need to leave any of the above comments to dig deeper, self-reflect, gain some perspective, learn. Your comment says WAY fucking more about you than it does about us.? ? Be better. 1678

A South Florida mother is hoping a social media blitz will help President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris see her daughter's letter to them.Sydney Carlo, who lives in Cooper City, wrote the letter Saturday after learning that Biden and Harris were the projected winners of the election. Courtesy of Samantha Carlo "I cried when I heard you won," the 9-year-old wrote. "I know you both are amazing people and will work hard to bring are our country together. I voted for you in my school's election. Just like you two, I want to grow up and help my country. America is a great country but you made it a lot better."Her mother, Samantha Carlo, said her daughter showed that dedication by keeping up with the presidential election. "Sydney has been following the election, so every morning since Tuesday, Nov. 3, the first thing she's done is walk into my room and say, 'Do we know who won yet?'" Carlo told WPTV.Sydney said she wanted to share her feelings. "I just let my heart out and I did what I wanted to say to him, that he's doing a great job and that he's a great person," she said. Her mother shared the letter on her Instagram page, tagging Biden and Harris. She's hoping it will be shared enough times that the future president and vice president take notice. As activists march through cities across the country, some protests that started off peaceful have ultimately ended in violence and looting. Now, more businesses have taken notice and are taking action. “These are the boards we have here,” said Joe Quintana who works at a souvenir shop in downtown Denver. After several neighboring businesses were broken into, Quintana’s boss decided to board up his business. “It takes time and more money to do this but trying to keep the safety out here,” he said. Construction crews are now working around the clock, protecting properties with plywood. “It can be hectic having to put this stuff up on a regular basis,” said handyman Jeffrey Berlin, who is reluctantly cashing in on the chaos. After being out of work for months due to COVID-19 concerns, Berlin is taking whatever jobs he can get, including boarding up buildings like Starbucks coffee shops. “I’d like to have a lot more (work) but I don’t want to get it under these circumstances,” he said. These circumstances have caused more businesses to board up their properties including some that recently reopened during this pandemic. “We’re just trying to stay safe because you don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Cody Kluck, who manages Osteria Marco. Just days after coronavirus restrictions were lifted, Kluck had to board up in fear of looters. “It’s like a false sense of security,” he said. “But I mean it will keep hopefully a brick or something from going through a window and people coming into our restaurant.”As protesters continue to call for social change across the country, others are now asking activists to alter their tactics saying protests should be done peacefully. 1708

Not everyone is loving it. An iconic Times Square McDonald's, opened in 1984, shut its doors early Wednesday morning, a company spokesperson said. The 42nd Street location closed at 4 a.m. “McDonald’s reviews its restaurant portfolio on a regular basis to make the best decisions for our business moving forward," the spokesperson said. "The closing of the 42nd Times Square restaurant, which was planned before the pandemic, was a difficult decision, and allows us to focus on serving customers a few blocks away at the new flagship McDonald’s on 45th and Broadway and in the neighboring communities.”When it opened, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said the 45th Street location was about "showing off what McDonald’s can do."
