A website tracking early voting numbers reports more than 23,500,000 votes have been cast in the 2020 presidential election as of Friday night. The US Election Project, run by Professor Michael McDonald at the University of Florida for the last few elections, is keeping track of early voting, mail-in and absentee ballot data states make available. The details of those ballots are not shared, these are just the raw numbers of how many ballots have been cast. The site is also tracking each state’s ballots cast as compared to the entire number of votes counted in the 2016 election. For the country as a whole, the more than 23.5 million ballots cast is about 17 percent of the total number of votes in the 2016 election. Some states appear to be on track to potentially reach their 2016 voter turnout number, or get very close, before the election. In Vermont, more than 136,000 ballots have been cast, that’s more than 42 percent of the total number of ballots cast in the 2016 election. In Texas, early voting started Tuesday and already more than 2,647,000 ballots have been cast. That’s almost 30 percent of the total number of ballots cast in 2016.Professor McDonald does track about a dozen states that report party affiliation of the ballots returned. Those numbers show a higher number of Democrats have returned their ballots compared to those identified as Republican. However, there is no way to tell who those ballots voted for exactly, and history shows Democrats typically have higher numbers of mail-in ballots, according to McDonald. 1557

A woman is suing Waffle House after saying she was served bleach in a drink she got from a restaurant in Georgia.Atavian Moore sued the restaurant chain Oct. 27, claiming the incident has cost her ,000 in medical bills so far, according to Atlanta's WSB-TV.Moore claims that when she was eating at a Waffle House in Lithonia, Georgia in October 2015, she was given a drink that had bleach in it. She assumes the bleach got in her drink after the restaurant cleaned its drink dispenser.WSB reported that Moore's lawsuit claimed she suffered injuries to her esophagus, stomach and other internal body parts because of the potentially deadly cocktail.According to the National Capital Poison Center, swallowing small amounts of bleach can cause mouth irritation and vomiting but when someone swallows a large amount of the chemical it can cause more serious problems.Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National Desk. Amazon said that beginning Tuesday, customers at its two Amazon Go stores in Seattle can use a device that will scan their palms before entering the store that will sync to their credit card with their hand signature. The company announced the launch in a blog post."We believe Amazon One has broad applicability beyond our retail stores, so we also plan to offer the service to third parties like retailers, stadiums, and office buildings so that more people can benefit from this ease and convenience in more places," Dilip Kumar, Vice President Physical Retail & Technology at Amazon, said in the blog post. The way the contactless device Amazon One works is that customers will insert their credit card into the device, hover their hand over the scanner, and follow the prompts to associate the card with their palm signature built for them by the machine. The company said customers could use both palms or one to enroll. Once a consumer enrolls, they'll need to place their palm over the Amazon One device at the entrance. The company plans to add more of the devices in the coming months to other Amazon stores.Amazon says you don't need an Amazon account to use the Amazon One device. The company said the device "protected by multiple security controls and palm images are never stored on the Amazon One device," according to the FAQ on its site."The images are encrypted and sent to a highly secure area we custom-built in the cloud where we create your palm signature," Kumar said. 1499
