House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday evening that she has reached a deal with the White House to pass an .3 billion spending bill, aimed at minimizing the economic effects of coronavirus. The bill is expected to be voted on tonight with bipartisan support.Pelosi says the bill provides paid emergency leave with two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave; provide free testing for the coronavirus; fund SNAP, student meals, seniors’ nutrition and food banks; and increase federal funds for Medicaid to support local and state governments and health systems."Today, the House is taking the next step to put Families First," Pelosi said. House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler on Monday announced a sweeping investigation into President Donald Trump's campaign, businesses, transition and administration, a probe that would lay the groundwork for Democrats if they choose to pursue impeachment proceedings against the President.The Judiciary Committee on Monday sent letters to 81 people and entities — including the White House, the Justice Department, senior campaign officials, Trump Organization officials and the President's sons — marking the start of a broad investigation that will tackle questions that include possible obstruction of justice, hush-money payments to women, collusion with Russia and allegations of the President abusing his office and using it for personal gain.They are demanding responses within two weeks.The sprawling net cast by the committee also signals that the Democratic-led investigations are likely to stretch on for months, with multiple committees seeking information from senior officials in the White House, the Trump campaign and the Trump Organization.The evidence gathered in the investigation would be the basis of a possible impeachment proceeding, which the Judiciary Committee would lead, though Nadler has said it's too soon to be discussing impeachment."We do not now have the evidence all sorted out and everything to do an impeachment," Nadler said in an interview 1391
Government lawyers are due in federal appeals court Tuesday to argue their case for why the District of Columbia and Maryland shouldn't be allowed to sue President Donald Trump over his ongoing interest in his family company, the Trump Organization.It's the latest effort by Justice Department attorneys to stop the suit, which claims that Trump is violating a constitutional clause banning presidents from accepting gifts or favors from foreign or domestic governments because of his stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington.If the appeal fails, the Trump Organization may be required to turn over an array of internal documents, potentially offering a window into the operation of the business.The Trump International, on Pennsylvania Avenue within sight of the White House, is the favored destination for Trump and first lady Melania Trump when eating outside the White House, and it has become a gathering point for Trump supporters as well as for groups with business before the administration.The Trump administration argues that the lawsuit is causing the President harm and would interfere with the separation of powers, according to court documents.The suit was filed in 2017 by Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh and District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine, who argue the Trump International Hotel's operations put nearby hotels and entertainment properties at a competitive disadvantage and that the hotel, which won its lease on a federally owned property before Trump's election, got special tax concessions.A federal district judge allowed the state governments to pursue their lawsuit in July 2018 against Trump in his official capacity as President. The states later dropped the part of the lawsuit that went after him personally.The judge allowed DC and Maryland to begin issuing subpoenas last year. Information requests were sent to many of Trump's private businesses, various federal agencies and 18 other unnamed entities that compete with the Trump International. While the subpoenas didn't ask for the President's personal tax returns, they do request tax documents from his businesses that could begin to fill out a picture of his own finances.The Department of Justice claims that the case from the attorneys general is based on "a host of novel and fundamentally flawed constitutional premises" and the evidence-gathering process for the case would include "intrusive discovery into the President's personal financial affairs and the official actions of the administration," according to court documents.The Justice Department appeal has halted the discovery process and put the case on hold until the appellate court rules. 2687

So, what’s causing the job hop and what can companies do to retain their younger employees?Charlie Harding is the CEO of Let’s Roam and he’s a millennial. He says he knows what the 30-somethings are looking for when it comes to a job."If a company is rigid and inflexible, it allows employees to job hunt or job hop, especially millennials," he says.However, the job market is tight right now and it’s giving millennials the option to choose the job that’s right for them. That could be part of the reason why they are job hopping.“They have a ton of confidence that if they were to leave that it would be OK,” says Karen Policastro, with the international recruiting firm Robert Half. “And if they go somewhere and it didn’t work out, they could just go somewhere else.”Millennials are in the driver seat and want new and unique experiences.Policastro says there’s a lot of competition, and millennials are looking for bigger paychecks, work life balance, healthy company culture, potential for career growth and a manager that values them.“If they aren’t getting it where they are, they are quick to leave,” Policastro says.Seventy-five percent of employees ages 18 to 34 view job hopping as beneficial compared to 51 percent of workers 55 and older.“I think there is a stigma that there is a lack of trust and loyalty,” Harding explains. “But it’s really up to the company to build that trust and loyalty. If they are leaving, it’s not because of the employee; it’s because of the company."No matter the generation, Harding believes it’s fairly simple for companies to retain employees.“If you are able to make employees happy and have a strong leader and understand what they want and how you can help them accomplish their goals, then you can do that,” Harding says. 1888
