For just the third time on record, a fourth tropical storm has formed in the Atlantic basin by the end of June, marking an active start to hurricane season.Tropical Storm Dolly formed on Tuesday off the coast of Maine, packing top winds of 45 MPH as of the 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center. The system is not expected to strengthen into a hurricane, and should weaken into a depression over the next day.The system is notable as it’s the second-earliest system to use a “D” name in the Atlantic.Last month, experts from the National Hurricane Center said that the 2020 hurricane season would likely be above average.“NOAA’s analysis of current and seasonal atmospheric conditions reveals a recipe for an active Atlantic hurricane season this year,” said Neil Jacobs, Ph.D., acting NOAA administrator. “Our skilled forecasters, coupled with upgrades to our computer models and observing technologies, will provide accurate and timely forecasts to protect life and property.”Government forecasts projected there would be 13 to 19 tropical storms in the Atlantic. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way businesses approach hiring and are forcing them to recruit remotely. "Everything we’ve always done previously has been in person. It’s always been encouraged to do in-person, face-to-face communication. From a job seeker's perspective, obviously, it helps to be in-person and kind of take their facial cues and whatnot, so we really had to change everything we were doing," says Erik Cherkaski with the Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board. Cherkaski says one of his main jobs is to recruit employees for local businesses. Because of the pandemic, their recruiting services are now virtual. Recently, the organization has been holding virtual job fairs for a number of large employers."I think one day we had logistics, so we had some of our local fulfillment centers on. Another day we had the service industry on, so some of the local retailers that were doing mass hiring [participated]. Then, we had a focus on government, as well. So, some of the local and state organizations that were doing some hiring and we had some very good turnout. This was new territory for us," said Cherkaski.Employers held virtual presentations for candidates who tuned in using online meeting platforms like Zoom and Webex. "It was very engaging. We got good feedback from our employers and we are looking to do it again. So that was very positive for us to see that we can do something like this online," said Cherkaski.College students and recent graduates are also finding their first career move by participating in online events. Handshake, which helps connect more than 500,000 employers with college students looking for a job or internship, says it's expanding it's virtual services to accommodate universities who've put their in-person career fairs on hold."There are a lot of opportunities that do still exist even with the change in the economy this particular year. We have so many students across so many different walks of life that are looking in for those opportunities to be able to just jump start their career," said Christine Cruzvergara, with Handshake. To help, Handshake created a new virtual engagement module."That is going to allow employers to be able to actually segment, campaign and reach out to candidates that meet the different criteria and qualifications that they are looking for, across all of our thousands of universities and colleges. They can go beyond the basic qualifications in a virtual fair to be even more tailored around, for example, some of their DEI requirements or their goals," said Cruzvergara.Handshake hopes the new tools not only help employers narrow down the types of students they want to hire, but also helps students. FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Lee County deputy is starting an incredible journey.  He will run nearly 400 miles from Lee County to Tallahassee in honor of fallen officers.Sgt. Sammy Gonzalez said this will be a grueling and difficult run, but it’s not impossible.  He has been with the sheriff’s office for 10 years now and said he's doing this run to help families of fallen officers."I've been running nonstop, it's almost a year for preparation for this," he said.Thursday morning, Gonzalez begins his 390-mile journey from Fort Myers to Tallahassee in the next 8-9 days.“It’s going to be an emotional finish. I can't even explain what it's going to be like when I arrive at the state capitol."Back in 2005, Sgt Gonzalez had a good friend killed in the line of duty.  "I tell people I can't bring back these fallen officers back, but what I'm doing is I'm raising money and awareness for those families who are left behind," he said. So far, he's raised ,000 for the charity Concerns of Police Survivors, and he hopes to raise ,000 more by the time he gets to the state capitol."Last year, 135 officers died in the United States," he said. "That's 135 too many."The first day, Gonzalez will run about 40 miles. He said they've planned it out every step of the way.  "I'm staying in an RV, actually," he said. "I have a 3-person team from the sheriff’s office that will be with me the entire trip."My only concern is the heat," he said. I've ran in hot conditions in the past, and it can play tricks on the mind."He will get to Tallahassee just in time for the state's annual memorial that honors and celebrates lives lost in the line of duty.Sgt. For those wondering if “Jeopardy!” would go on after Alex Trebek’s death, Jeopardy producers confirmed on Monday that the show must go on.Jeopardy executive producer Mike Richards released a statement on Monday saying the show would resume production on November 30. The show will resume with Ken Jennings, a former contestant who was deemed the “Greatest of All Time” in January, as the first to guest host following Trebek’s death. Other guest hosts will be announced in the future.Jennings joined the program at the start of the current season as a consulting producer. Before winning the “Greatest of All Time” series in January, Jennings set a still-standing record of 74 wins in a row in 2004.“Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him,” said Richards. “We will honor Alex’s legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved with smart contestants and challenging clues. By bringing in familiar guest hosts for the foreseeable future, our goal is to create a sense of community and continuity for our viewers.”Originally, Jeopardy! said it would have new episodes taped before Trebek's death through December 25. On Monday, the game show said that during the weeks of Dec. 21 and 28, Jeopardy! will air a top 10 of Trebek's past episodes. The final episode filmed before Trebek's death will air January 8.
