CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man were arrested in connection with the shooting death of a young man in Carlsbad, police announced Friday.Just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police and fire crews were called to the 2300 block of Caringa Way in response to a report of an injured person at an apartment complex.The injured person, an 18-year-old man, was found in the complex’s courtyard with a gunshot wound, police said.Kelly, an apartment resident, told ABC 10News, “I was fixing dinner. I looked out the kitchen window and he was on the ground. I started performing CPR, but it was too late.”The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released.Following an investigation, Carlsbad police detectives identified two people linked to the man’s death and arrested them.According to police, a 16-year-old girl was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of manslaughter and gross negligent discharge of a firearm.Gerardo Gonzalez, 19, of San Marcos, was booked into Vista Jail on a felony child endangerment charge.No other information was made available as the incident remains under investigation. 1186

Catastrophic wildfires continue to ravage California, as one blaze nearly doubled in size over the last three days, making it the largest in the state's history.No one has been injured in the Mendocino Complex Fire, which consists of two fires -- the Ranch Fire and the River Fire -- burning around Clear Lake, in several counties in Northern California.Combined, they form the biggest blaze that California firefighters are currently battling. Altogether, the Mendocino Complex Fire has burned 283,800 acres -- growing about 80% since Friday night. As of Monday evening, it was 30% contained and had destroyed 75 residences.The Mendocino Complex Fire has now surpassed last year's Thomas Fire, which burned 281,893 acres in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, as the largest fire in Cal Fire history.Exhausted firefighters across the state are trying to contain 16 major fires that are burning in hot, dry and windy conditions.On Monday, another fast-moving fire ignited in the state -- this time in Orange County, where firefighters battled the Holy Fire that expanded to more than 4,000 acres. CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. -- There were no survivors from a plane crash Thursday night in Carroll County, according to Indiana State Police. The Cessna 441 went down around 7:30 p.m. local time in a field near Carroll County Roads 500 West and 600 South, just north of Rossville.The plane took off from Eagle Creek Airport in Indianapolis at 7:21 p.m., according to flight records. It was headed to Green Bay-Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin.At 7:39 p.m., data shows that the plane was between 18,000 feet and 28,000 feet when it disappeared off radar, sources told Scripps station WRTV in Indianapolis. Shortly after, multiple people called 911 in Carroll County, reporting a plane down. People who live in the area who heard the crash say it sounded like thunder.First responders had trouble finding the wreckage at first because it was so dark and far back in a field. They eventually used ATVs and other off-road vehicles to access the area. WRTV learned that there were at least three people on board.There is no word on what caused the plane to go down. Officials with the FAA and NTSB are expected to arrive on the scene Friday morning to begin their investigation.  1275
