BEIJING, Sep. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward four proposals for improving ties with Central Africa when meeting with his counterpart Francois Bozize Yangouvonda Thursday.     "China attaches great importance to the friendship with Central Africa, and we are willing to work with Central Africa to create a new era for our bilateral ties." Hu stressed.     Hu made four proposals for the enhancement of bilateral ties during the meeting.     First, Hu said, the two countries should cement the political foundation of bilateral ties and strengthen communication and coordination on major issues and important affairs. China is willing to strengthen economic, trade and technical cooperation with Central Africa to benefit both sides and develop jointly, Hu said.     Hu stressed personnel and cultural exchanges and cooperation in his third proposal, urging the two countries to make favorable efforts and build platforms for expanding cultural, educational, sanitary, media and non-governmental exchanges, so as to deepen mutual understanding and develop friendship.     He at last proposed the two countries strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs. China is ready to maintain consultation and coordination with Central Africa under the framework of the United Nations and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on global issues, so as to jointly safeguard the developing countries' interests, Hu said.     "China and Central Africa are friends as well as friendly and cooperative partners," Hu said, adding that it has been the Chinese government's persistent policy to develop long-term, stable, friendly and cooperative relations with Central Africa on the basis of sincerity, equality and mutual benefit.     Bozize, who arrived here Wednesday for a week-long state visit to China, said he fully agrees with Hu's notion.     Bozize will also visit southwest China's Yunnan Province and southern Guangdong Province

LANZHOU, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 550 primary and middle school students flew back to quake-hit Chinese provinces from Russia Wednesday after completing a three-week recuperative tour.     The teenagers, 340 from Sichuan Province, 110 from Gansu Province and 100 from Shaanxi Province, were invited by the Russian government to recuperate at the "Ocean" All-Russia Children's Care Center in Vladivostok, Far East, since July 23.     The students boasted excellent performance at their schools and demonstrated bravery in the devastating earthquake in May last year. "I enjoyed learning different cultures from them."     On May 12, 2008, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Sichuan and neighboring Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, leaving more than 87,000 dead or missing and more than 370,000 injured.     Since 2008, two batches of more than 1,500 pupils from Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi have been invited to recuperate in Russia. Last year, the first group of 1,018 students went to Russia for rehabilitation.

PYONGYANG, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), held talks here on Monday and reached important consensus on China-DPRK relations and the promotion of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.     Premier Wen extended sincere greetings and best wishes to Kim on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao.     The hard-earned friendship and friendly cooperative relations achieved by the joint efforts of several generations of the two countries conform to the aspiration of the two peoples, Wen said, adding that the two nations should pass on the friendship from generation to generation.     China is willing to work with the DPRK to maintain high-level exchanges, deepen pragmatic cooperation, strengthen coordination on major issues, and push forward the good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations, he added.     Kim asked Wen to relay his greetings to Chinese President Hu. MOSCOW, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese merchants will be allowed to retrieve their goods in a closed Moscow market, the head of a Chinese coordination group said on Thursday.     A Chinese coordination group on Thursday discussed with Moscow's consumer department the clearing up of Chinese merchants' stalls in the Cherkizovsky market as well as the transferring of their goods.     The Russian side agreed to take further steps to safeguard the market's order and to work with the Chinese side to crack down on the illegal activities, said Cai Guiru, head of the temporary Chinese coordination group and chairperson of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Russia.     It is agreed that Chinese merchants will be allowed to clean up their stalls and ship out their merchandise during a specific period of time every day, Cai said.     The Russian side took "sincere and earnest" attitudes towards the handling of the market closure, in the hope that most of the Chinese merchants will be able to retrieve their goods safely, she said.     This meeting is helpful and the Russian side heard positive opinions from Chinese vendors, said Georgy Smoleyevcky, first deputy head of the Moscow Consumer Market and Services Department.     The Russian side will make conclusions accordingly and give instructions to relevant departments, he said, expressing the hope that complaints from Chinese traders will be less and less in future.     The official also dismissed the speculation that a Chinese shopping mall will be built in the place of the closed Cherkizovsky, Russia's biggest wholesale market.     The coordination group, formed under the auspices of the Chinese embassy in Russia in July, involves heads of China's provincial chambers of commerce.     Russian police abruptly shut down the nearly 300-hectare market in northeastern Moscow on June 29, after the disclosure of various illegal and irregular operations in the market by the Russian Federal Supervision Service for Consumer Rights Protection and People Welfare.     A Chinese senior delegation, led by Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng, reached broad consensus with the Russian side on the closure issue.
