Delta is partnering with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to become the first airline to launch a contact tracing initiative for international travelers arriving in the United States.Beginning Dec. 15, the Atlanta-based carrier will ask all customers to voluntarily provide their contact information for "contact tracing and public health follow-up efforts.""This will give the CDC access to the data in moments, dramatically decreasing the time it takes to notify affected customers via local health departments," Delta said in a press release.Each passenger will need to provide their full name, both a physical and email address, as well as two phone numbers.Once a passenger fills out the form, Delta will securely forward the information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, who will pass it along to the CDC."This will give the CDC access to the data in moments, dramatically decreasing the time it takes to notify affected customers via local health departments," the company said.However, this program will not pertain to the carrier's quarantine-free flight trial to Italy, which Delta announced last week.Through a partnership with the Aeroporti de Roma and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Delta will have a first-of-its-kind trans-Atlantic COVID-19 testing program.Delta said that participating consumers eligible to travel would be granted an exemption from quarantine restrictions on arrival into Italy. 1448

DENVER – The 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Thursday released a massive cache of documents and interviews related to the Chris Watts case following open records requests.Watts pleaded guilty earlier this month to killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and their two young daughters at their home in Frederick, Colo. in August. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole, after which prosecutors started releasing all the documents related to the case.Last week, prosecutors released thousands of pages of documents that contained interviews and information about the investigation, which showed more details about how Watts killed his family and hid their bodies and the deteriorating relationship between himself and Shanann. 793

Delta gained hurricane strength Monday evening, packing top winds of 80 MPH as of 11 p.m. ET as it churns in the Caribbean Sea, heading north. The rapidly-strengthening tropical storm currently in the Caribbean Sea is moving north, and could strike the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico as a major hurricane on Wednesday.While the Yucatan Peninsula could be in the path of Delta, there is growing concern for the Gulf Coast. The National Hurricane Center has areas from Louisiana to the western tip of the Florida panhandle in the path of Delta. The tropical storm is expected to come ashore on Friday as a hurricane. Delta became the 25th named storm on Monday in what has been an extremely active 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.Louisiana has taken the brunt of the impact of the 2020 Hurricane season. Hurricanes Marco and Laura have already made landfall in the state, causing inland flooding and significant damage along the coast. Hurricane Sally also did significant damage nearby Gulf Shores, Alabama, when it made landfall in September.A second tropical storm, Gamma, is currently churning in the Gulf of Mexico. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- A push is underway to protect the Del Mar bluffs from crumbling with a stabilization project set to start soon. It’s part of a long-term effort to protect the trains and tracks running along the fragile cliffs. Some residents say it’s not a permanent solution. "Anyone that's ridden on the trains through Del Mar… knows you have a great view there but that's because the train tracks are fairly close to the Del Mar bluffs."A little too close for comfort. Heavy rainfall this winter triggered several Del Mar bluff collapses, reminding the county just how fragile they are. "What was very tragic and unfortunate in Encinitas was loss of life. Bluffs in Del Mar had a number of failures just this past winter. And we were very lucky here was nobody on top or below when those bluffs failed."But Jim Linthicum, SANDAG's Director of Mobility, says right now the train tracks are safe. “Had a number of projects since 2003 to stabilize, but public doesn't normally see because they are buried piles 65 feet deep."Now they're in phase 4, the million dollar project includes repairing seawalls, storm drains and drainage channels. “We're even doing drainage on side, drainage holes, drain water out of bluffs to reduce pressure." "This is a short-term fix, you're trying to slow down the inevitable."Geologist Pat Abbott says the problem is a hard one to solve, but believes the current plan is just a band-aid. "The easiest thing to do, what has been done, is let's do a band-aid now and pass it on to the next generation as if it will be simpler for them to solve than us."Regional planners say they are thinking long term, hoping to construct a tunnel after the year 2050. But that will be costly and complex, so SANDAG says it will do what's necessary to protect what's here now. Monday night, the Del Mar City Council approved the encroachment permit, allowing SANDAG stabilization of bluff to move forward in September. 1957
