SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — New numbers show almost 40% of people who test positive for COVID-19 in San Diego County are between the ages of 20 and 39.As more businesses begin to open up, more Californians are testing positive for the coronavirus."It really is an alarming trend," Dr. Abisola Olulade, family medicine doctor at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, said.It is a trend affecting everyone, but most noticeably for younger adults between 20 and 39.RELATED: Gov. But new numbers show the virus does not discriminate."There is a sense that a lot of young people are, well, you're young, and so you feel a little bit more invincible. "We are not immune to the effects of this virus."Younger folks are often the first to venture out to newly reopened businesses or have participated in recent large gatherings like the protests. WASH your hands. And WATCH your distance," Dr. Olulade said. "We all have a social and moral obligation to protect the health of others, so I hope that everyone takes that on as a personal responsibility."Dr. Olulade also adds that there is an increasing number of cases of young people who never knew they had underlying conditions until they got tested for COVID-19, and now they're fighting for their lives. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- People on social media are outraged after video shows a security guard questioning a mother's immigration status in a Target parking lot. The woman who recorded and posted the video, Sonia Serrano Zavala, says the guard was asking the mother if she is here legally when she started recording. The unidentified security guard can be heard in the video saying, "You’re illegally here and you’re having babies and you’re probably on welfare."The woman, seen holding a baby in the parking lot, was reportedly asking for money. Midway through the video, the security guard says "it's a scam" and claims the woman has a car and a condo.The incident took place at a Target located in the Marketplace at the Grove Shopping Center. The guard does not work specifically for Target, but provides security for the entire shopping center. The company who hires the security guards for the mall said, "The behavior of this employee is not reflective of the standards we have set for our security professionals, and we will address it."WARNING: The video below contains graphic language.  1136

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — President Trump's pardon of former Congressman Duncan Hunter came as no shock to the man who successfully prosecuted the case.“While I am appalled as a citizen, I am not surprised given the prior conduct of the president,” said Phil Halpern, who left the Justice Department after the case concluded.Halpern was one of the Assistant U.S. Attorneys who prosecuted Duncan Hunter and his wife Margaret in 2019. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 100 homeless people will soon have a warm place to sleep at night. Thursday morning, the fourth bridge shelter opened its doors in East Village. Each shelter focuses on a different group of the homeless population. The new shelter, located on 17th St and Imperial Ave., is specific to high-risk people including the disabled, elderly, or those with medical conditions. “I can’t tell you in words, but it feels so good to get off this concrete,” says David Tharp, who has been living on the streets for the past three years. Nearly 20 agencies will be on-site at times providing services to fit individual needs. The city has now opened four shelters in the last two years, following the large Hepatitis A outbreak, bringing nearly 800 homeless people off the streets.
