The Confederate-themed Mississippi flag is drawing criticism from two big forces in the culturally conservative state. Walmart says it will no longer display the state flag because it includes the Confederate battle emblem. Displaying state flags inside stores is a common practice. “We know the design of the Mississippi state flag is being discussed by various stakeholders. While the issue continues to be discussed, we’ve made the decision to remove the Mississippi state flag from display in its current form from our stores," Walmart spokesperson Anne Hatfield said in an email statement.“We believe it’s the right thing to do, and is consistent with Walmart’s position to not sell merchandise with the confederate flag from stores and online sites, as part of our commitment to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for all of our customers in the communities we serve," Hatfield continued. The Mississippi Baptist Convention is calling on lawmakers to remove the Confederate symbol from the flag because many people are “hurt and shamed” by it. The governing body for college athletics and other influential groups are calling for Mississippi to change its flag. Republican Gov. The critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad appears to be returning to television, this time in the form of a movie.Slash Film reports series creator Vince Gilligan is writing and executive producing the project.The film is said to be a sequel to the show's finale that aired in 2013, and will follow Aaron Paul's character Jesse Pinkman.Bryan Cranston, who plays the show's main character Walter White, also confirmed the existence of the film but says he has not read the script.There is no official release date for the film, but production will begin in New Mexico soon, Slash Film reports.   620

The Chardon (Ohio) Fire Department is investigating a school bus that was on fire overnight in the district's bus lot.Shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday, an employee arrived at 355 Maple Avenue, where the bus lot is located, and noticed a bus had been burned in a fire. As a precaution, the fire department extinguished any hot spots. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, but they said they believe it was set intentionally.A few other buses were parked nearby the burned bus, but they appeared unscathed.   575

However, before political parties started relying on primaries, conventions were the place the nominee was decided.In 1856, it took Abraham Lincoln three rounds of voting to become the Republican nominee. In 1924, Democrats needed 103 ballots over 16 days to pick John Davis as their party nominee.CONVENTIONS PURPOSE In 1948, networks began televising conventions and since then, many argue conventions have become taxpayer-funded spectacles for insiders. While taxpayers are no longer directly funding conventions, they are paying for security. In 2016, it was estimated that around 0 million of taxpayer funds were spent on convention security. 1952 was the last year both political parties had a contested convention; however, party insiders believe conventions still play a pivotal role. Conventions are where networking can take place and where delegates can debate the party platform. It's also a place where training sessions can occur and speeches can take place.
