Humanity's first visit to a star began this weekend. NASA's Parker Solar Probe will explore the sun's atmosphere in a mission that launched early Sunday. This is the agency's first mission to the sun and its outermost atmosphere, the corona.After being delayed on Saturday, the probe successfully launched at 3:31 a.m. ET Sunday from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket, one of the world's most powerful rockets.Although the probe itself is about the size of a car, a powerful rocket is needed to escape Earth's orbit, change direction and reach the sun.The launch window was chosen because the probe will rely on Venus to help it achieve an orbit around the sun.Six weeks after launch, the probe will encounter Venus' gravity for the first time. It will be used to help slow the probe, like pulling on a handbrake, and orient the probe so it's on a path to the sun. 913

In a blog post on Thursday, Twitter says it has suspended more than 1.2 million accounts for promoting terrorism-related content between August 2015 and December 2017.The announcement came as part of the company's 12th biannual Twitter Transparency Report.The company also reported that more that 274,000 of those accounts were suspended in the last reporting period from July 2017 and December 2017, and nearly three quarters of those accounts were suspended before even sending a tweet.Terror groups like ISIS have been known to be active on Twitter, and use the social networking site as a recruiting tool to attract new members.Despite Twitter's report, the company continues ot face criticism on how it handles issues relating to harassment and hate speech. Hundreds of students at Sage Creek High School in Carlsbad witnessed a graphic and emotional presentation about DUI driving Tuesday. The program is called "Every 15 Minutes" is presented by the CHP and other local first responders. Teens saw fellow students injured or dead after a drunk driving crash and also saw another student arrested for getting behind the wheel intoxicated. The two day program will conclude Wednesday with a mock funeral and a presentation by a CHP officer who lost family members in a DUI crash last year.  565
