SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego dentist is giving parents a new tool to win the battle over brushing.Dr. Kami Hoss recently released a singing toothbrush that pairs with augmented reality technology."We gotta come up with brushes that are really fun and educate in a fun way," says Dr. Hoss.The brush plays a song for two minutes, which is the amount of time dentists recommend for brushing teeth. While the song plays, kids can use an app to watch augmented reality characters come to life on their phones.The characters "pop out" of a sticker placed on the bathroom mirror and teach kids how to brush properly. Hoss says this is the first toothbrush to use AR."It's Pixar quality," says Dr. Hoss of the animation. "We spent years developing this to make sure it's beautiful."According to the CDC, around 20% of kindergarteners have some form of tooth decay. Studies show that children brush their teeth 73% longer when listening to music. The toothbrush also helps people know when it's time to buy a new one. If someone uses it to brush twice a day, the battery will die after three months. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died early Saturday morning after he and another man held a punching game, police say.The incident happened on Fourth Avenue and J Street at Jolt’n Joe’s just before 1 a.m. Police say both men were drinking when they decided to have a punching contest.During the game, one of the men collapsed. Staff at the bar performed CPR on the 27-year-old who was taken to the hospital where he later died.The suspect in the death was taken also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain.Police haven’t officially made any arrests. 576

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Palomar College student told deputies he wanted to cause a mass casualty shooting at the school and carry it out in April to commemorate the Columbine High School shooting.Team 10 has learned the student is the same person who made threats involving the San Diego County Administration Center last week.10News is not naming the student because no records are showing he’s been charged with a crime at this time.According to court documents obtained by 10News, the student stated to San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies he intended on “targeting the egress walkways by using an elevated point and shooting a firearm upon bystanders.”The court filing, a petition for workplace violence restraining orders, included a Palomar College Incident Reporting Form that stated, “he intended on targeting the egress walkways by using an elevated point and shooting a firearm upon bystanders.” It also noted he “began planning this assault in January 2018 and wanted to carry it out on Friday, April 20, 2018, to commemorate the Columbine High School shooting.”The student didn't have a specific staff member or student targeted but was looking at any bystanders that would be in the area.A spokesperson for Palomar College tells 10News,  1269

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local contractor is facing criminal charges for allegedly taking customers money and doing little to no work.On Monday Stephen Hage Jr. plead not guilty to charges ranging from grand theft to improper home improvement contract procedures.According to the prosecutor Hage allegedly took down payments on home improvement contracts, and after getting the money disappeared after performing little to no work.In November, a Team 10 investigation discovered some customers who said they signed a contract with American Pride Enterprises, paid thousands of dollars up front and were left with little or nothing. James Francois said he paid Hage more than ,000 for a patio.“He never showed up, never delivered any material, never did an hour of work,” Francois told 10News in November.The Contractors State License Board revoked American Pride Enterprises' license for non-compliance with an arbitration award in July of 2018.After the hearing Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin asked Hage if he had a comment about the allegations. Hage’s attorney said they had no comment. Hage is scheduled to be back in court in May. 1144
