Dreher Township, PA (WNEP) -- Parents are expressing concern after a church announced it will hold a ceremony next week, and worshipers are encouraged to bring assault rifles with them, and the ceremony will be just down the road from an elementary school.The ceremony in Wayne County was planned before the mass shooting at a high school in Florida last week.Church leaders still plan to go ahead with the blessing of guns, which has some parents of elementary school students on edge.Sanctuary Church and Rod of Iron Ministries are one in the same, run by the Moon family from South Korea who started the controversial Unification Church.Church leaders said that state police wanted to know what the ceremony next week involving AR-15-style assault rifles is all about.At 10 a.m. next Wednesday, church leaders expect up to 600 people for a blessing ceremony, and many of those people are expected to be armed with AR-15s, the assault rifle used in recent mass shootings across the country."This will be a big thing for us. It's a new stage for us because it incorporates the rod of iron, as it is in Revelations. Revelations talks about the returning Christ ruling with the rod of iron."Tim Elder sat down with WNEP to explain the beliefs of the church, led by the Reverend Sean Moon.Moon is the son of the late Sun Myung Moon, who founded the controversial Unification Church that drew national attention in the 1970s and '80s. The Rod of Iron Ministries is an offshoot of that religious organization focusing on what it believes is the right of families to defend themselves with assault rifles."This rod of iron is the AR-15, in today's terms."The Moon family also owns Kahr Arms, a gunmaker that moved to Pike County a couple years ago. WNEP was at the opening ceremony at that time in Blooming Grove Township.Church leaders say the AR-15s will not be loaded for the ceremony next week and safety zip ties will be used. However, state police are involved. Elder says troopers have reached out for more information.Just down the road from the church is Wallenpaupack South Elementary School with 280 students, plus teachers and staff. In light of recent gun violence at schools, the planned ceremony with assault rifles is concerning for parents."It's something I would consider keeping my child home. It's scary," said Liz Zoccola."I wish they wouldn't have it at all. I don't think there's a good time to have it, especially this close," Kendra Hanor said.The ceremony was planned before last week's deadly rampage at a high school in Florida.Wallenpaupack Area school officials are deciding what, if anything, the school will do next Wednesday in response to the ceremony down the road.  2719

DULZURA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three fires burned in rural East County Wednesday afternoon as Cal Fire worked to extinguish the flames. According to Cal Fire, all three of the fires sparked in the community of Dulzura along Highway 94 between Otay Lakes Road and Freezer Road. Video of the blaze shows traffic in the area backed up for several miles after crews closed Highway 94 between Otay Lakes Road and Barrett Lake Road. Around 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire said crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread of all three fires. In total, all three fires burned slightly less than 32 acres. Sky10 was live over the fire. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — One person is dead after their vehicle became airborne and crashed, sending metal and pieces of the vehicle across the roadway.California Highway Patrol troopers tried to stop the vehicle on eastbound Interstate 8 at about 2 a.m. Saturday before the driver sped off.Troopers pursued the vehicle, which began picking up speed as it left the highway, CHP said.At one point, witnesses told 10News the vehicle hit a dip on Main St. near Jamacha Rd. at a high speed and became airborne. The driver lost control of the car and crashed, colliding with a tree and wall along the road.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not immediately identified.The crash sent pieces of the vehicle flying in all directions including the car's engine block, which was dislodged and found across the road.TRAFFIC: Live traffic conditions around San Diego"Seemed like just 30 minutes of just crashing and metal everywhere," one witness said. "Just a horrific sound. (KGTV) — A family jewelry shop in El Cajon is out tens of thousands of dollars after a brazen robbery Friday.A couple entered Ishtar Jewelry Store on Avocado Avenue and began browsing around. It was a seemingly ordinary evening."They were looking for different pieces of jewelry, bracelets, necklaces," said Nadin Toma, the store owner's daughter. "My mom was the one who was helping them out. The female found a piece that she liked."After that, Toma said the woman claimed she needed to get her wallet from the car to purchase the piece of jewelry."Our door to get in is an electric door," explained Toma. "We have to buzz anyone in and out just for security purposes."So, the woman was buzzed out, but Toma said she held the door open.That's when the man by her side made his move, jumping over the display counter, snatching up a handful of gold chains, then running out of the wide-open front door."They just grabbed and ran as fast as they could," Toma said. "They got away."Toma estimates the cost of the gold chains were anywhere from ,000 to ,000.But, the thief also left something behind. His fanny pack hooked onto the front door and broke off his body as he ran away.Toma said inside the fanny pack was the suspect's identification card, which she gave to police.She also said a Good Samaritan wrote down the license plate number of the car the couple used to get away."With any robbery, it's very painful for anyone who goes through it," said Toma. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV)- A man in an El Cajon neighborhood is frustrated after weeks of watching an Amazon delivery driver speed through his neighborhood. The resident, who didn't want to release his name, said, “I mean, there’s been times I've seen them go 10 to15 miles per hour, then I’ve seen them go 20 plus.”The signs in the neighborhood list the speed limit at 5 miles per hour. With the holiday season among us, the delivery traffic is up. "With Amazon, they pull down our street maybe 3 to 4 times a week and I’d say more than half the time they’re speeding," he said.He was able to identify the company affiliation because of the Amazon packages in the car and on the dashboard. The neighbor tried reaching out to Amazon but didn’t like the response he got."The very first thing the lady said to me was, 'do you have proof'.” 10News reached out to Amazon and talked with a representative on the phone.
