DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Firefighters Wednesday battled a house fire near Descanso that spread to nearby brush. According to Cal Fire, the blaze started on the 24000 block of Sherilton Valley Road in the area of Cedar Creek. Part of the home became involved in the fire before flames spread to nearby brush, scorching two acres. DETROIT (AP) — Walmart is teaming up with the General Motors’ autonomous vehicle unit to test driverless delivery in Arizona. The companies say battery powered Chevrolet Volt vehicles will begin deliveries in Scottsdale early next year. At first they’ll have human backup drivers who will monitor the cars and help to deliver packages to doors. But Ray Wert, spokesman at GM’s Cruise autonomous vehicle unit, says they’ll eventually move to fully autonomous deliveries. Walmart says customers will be able to place an order and it will be delivered contact-free by a Cruise vehicle. The retail giant says it’s one of several autonomous vehicle pilot projects designed to chart a new roadmap for retail sales.Wert says the testing with Walmart will start small and gradually ramp up to more vehicles. DETROIT — A bond between two 12-year-old boys is now helping a Detroit mother in her grief. After surviving two bouts with cancer, little KJ Gross' time on earth was cut short by the side effects of treatment. Now, KJ's best friend is helping his mom get some closure. KJ had defeated cancer twice in his young life, his mom San Singleton said. He had been free of the disease for six years when he landed back in the hospital from congestive heart failure."We packed up and we moved into the hospital," Singleton said. "And everything that they did for KJ thinking it would give him a better quality of life, it did the opposite."KJ would not leave the hospital again, but found support in his best friend from school, 12-year-old Kaleb Klakulak.
