Police in Washington, D.C. released body camera video Thursday from the shooting death of 18-year-old Deon Kay.Police said the incident began Wednesday when Kay and his friends brandished firearms on a social media livestream. Officers located where the livestream was taking place, drove to the scene and found the group.Less than 10 seconds after arriving on the scene, Officer Alexander Alvarez fired the fatal shots that killed Kay.According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham, Alvarez was chasing another suspect at the time of the shooting."When he turned around, that's when Deon Kay approached him and displayed a handgun, and in response to that, the officer fired one round," Newsham said. "Unfortunately, Deon Kay lost his life."Alavarez had been with the department for two years prior to the shooting. All officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, which is department policy.Police also said that Kay threw his gun away prior to being shot. Officers found it 90 feet away from his body."I know that he's validated gang member from the area and I know that he's had multiple touches with the criminal justice system," Newsham saod. "I'm pretty sure Deon Kay fell through multiple safety nets before yesterday afternoon."Washington, D.C. PLACENTIA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two sport utility vehicles have plowed into a Goodwill store in Southern California, injuring five people.Orange County fire Capt. Tony Bommarito says an 88-year-old woman rear-ended a parked car shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday in Placentia, pushing the SUV all the way into the store. The woman's SUV wound up partially inside.The woman was taken to the hospital with a trauma injury, but she's expected to survive.Bommarito says a 14-year-old boy in the SUV that was struck and three women inside the store — two shoppers and an employee — were treated for minor injuries. 620

Police in North Carolina are searching for a suspect in the shooting death of a man who was killed while streaming live on Facebook, according to CNN affiliate WSOC-TV.The shooting took place Monday in the town of Wingate. The victim has been identified as Prentis Robinson, 55.Robinson's Facebook page is filled with live videos of him playing instruments and walking down the street with a selfie-stick.Nothing seemed different when the 55-year-old was filming live Monday morning, selfie-stick in hand, complaining about a family member who Robinson claims stole one of his three cellphones. According to WSOC, the video showed him stopping at the Wingate Police Department to report the alleged theft.The Facebook video shows Robinson as he left the station, walked up a hill toward his home and exchanged a few words with another man.Then there was gunfire and Robinson, along with his phone, fell to the ground.CNN has reached out for further comment from the Wingate Police Department.Wingate police Chief Donnie Gay told WSOC, "I'd just spoke to him, it was, I just ... it's hard to say anything about that. I just got through talking to him."Robinson was found face down on the street. Douglas Cleveland Colson, 65, was identified by police as a suspect in the shooting, and is now wanted on a murder charge, according to WSOC.The fatal shooting led to a lockdown at nearby Wingate University, which is less than a mile from the scene. PEORIA, Ill. — Bradley University in central Illinois is requiring its entire student body to quarantine for two weeks because of clusters of COVID-19 on campus and is reverting to remote learning, officials announced Tuesday.Officials of the private university said they have linked a spike of the coronavirus to off-campus gatherings. The Peoria university is requiring students to limit nonessential interactions, stay in their off-campus apartments, residence halls and take classes remotely beginning Tuesday.The university said it has tallied about 50 COVID-19 cases so far, adding emergency measures are needed to respond to the outbreak without disrupting academic progress.“Although it may seem extreme, this move to temporary remote learning and a two-week, all-student quarantine allows us to focus on the continuity of the educational experience for all of our students while giving us time to gather data on the full extent of the spread of the virus and assess the best way to proceed as a community,” Bradley President Stephen Standifird said in a message to students.While about 4,600 undergraduates were enrolled at Bradley last year, it wasn’t immediately known how many are enrolled this fall. 1220
