BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) --The presidium of the 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a meeting here on Saturday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Fourth Plenary Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, which is scheduled to open on March 3.The meeting was presided over by Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau.The meeting examined and approved the agenda of the 12th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, which is scheduled to run from February 26 to February 28 next year in Beijing.Jia Qinglin (C), chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), presides over the 33rd meeting of chairpersons of the 11th CPPCC National Committee in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 24, 2010.The meeting also examined and approved a draft name list for the secretariat of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and a decision to convene the Session.Zhao Qizheng has been appointed the spokesman for the Fourth Plenary Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance said here Wednesday that it will sell a batch of 30-year long-term book-entry treasury bonds this week at a yield of 4.23 percent.The bonds, with a total face value of 28 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), will be sold over five days starting Thursday, said the ministry in a statement on its website.The bonds are the 40th batch of the kind to be sold by the ministry this year, and will be the fifth batch of 30-year T-bonds the ministry has sold this year.The bonds will become tradable on Dec. 15 through the national inter-bank bond market and over the counter at designated commercial banks. Interest will be paid every half year.

DUSHANBE, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China and Tajikistan will enhance high-level contacts, expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields to fully develop their relations of good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, said a joint communique signed on Thursday by the two countries.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao signed the communique with his Tajik counterpart Akil Akilov in his two-day visit to the Central Asian nation. The two nations will also speed up efforts to improve infrastructure construction in Karasu-Kulma port and customs clearance conditions to allow the all-year-round operation of the port at an early date.The two countries, meanwhile, vowed to continue promoting cooperation in culture, education, health, tourism, sports and journalism, and encourage the sponsorship of cultural days and cultural festivals by each other as well as exchanges between youths of the two countries.Both sides will further their close cooperation so as to continue improving the facilities and quality of teaching in the Confucius Institute in Tajikistan, the communique said.

  

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) - China's priority in the public health sector will shift from prevention and control of communicable diseases to treating chronic diseases during the next five years.Li Bin, an official with the Ministry of Health, made the statement during a regular press conference at the ministry on Friday.Li said China had given priority to controlling communicable diseases during the 11th five year program (2006-2010), and the health authority will now focus on chronic diseases during the 12th five year program (2011-2015).According to statistics from the ministry, cardio-cerebral vascular disease has become the major threat to the health of the Chinese public. The incidence rate of chronic diseases in China has reached 20 percent, which meant 260 million people have been diagnosed as suffering from chronic diseases.It was also reported during the press conference that China had retrofitted toilets in 7.83 million rural households into more hygienic facilities as of the end of November this year.

His first two legs are Singapore and South Africa and he is scheduled to visit Botswana after his Angolan trip.
