LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego County Fair isn’t happening in 2020, but there are still ways to get your fair fix. There are virtual activities hosted through the fair, and one food vendor is still bringing fair food to the community. Chicken Charlie’s is known for deep-fried everything, from Oreos to meat, and this year, the new addition is deep fried taffy. While the fair won’t be happening, Charlie Boughosian has brought his trailer to the Grossmont Center in La Mesa to bring fried food to the community. Friday would have been the first day of the fair, so Charlie made it the first day of shop in the parking lot. “I’m feeling the same kind of pressure I feel on opening day of the fair,” he said Friday. Be prepared for a wait; the first day was a hit and the crowds showed up. He said they’ll start with hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. then expand if possible. Charlie said he’s still looking to hire about 20 employees. “I think food is love and I love feeding people and there’s nothing better than fried chicken. Larry Nassar has been moved from a federal prison in Tucson, Ariz. after his lawyer claims Nassar was assaulted in prison.The disgraced former Michigan State and USA Gymnastics doctor was moved to a Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. It's a place where inmates stay while waiting to be transferred to another prison.Nassar pleaded guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault in November 2017 after being charged with molesting seven girls, all but one of whom were gymnasts. Those sexual assaults happened at Michigan State University.In a filing by his attorneys, Nassar claims that he was abused in prison and also mentions the time when he was charged at by one of the victims' father in court."Dr. Nassar reports, that in late May he was physically attacked in federal prison within a few hours of being placed in general population," the court filing reads.  953

Last month, the Harvard Global Health Institute released an interactive map that shows the risk of contracting the coronavirus based on daily new cases per 100,000 people. At the time, three states were in the red. As of Thursday, that number has since increased to 10.According to Harvard, the 10 states represent ones that should consider full stay-at-home orders, while an additional 22 should consider them.The map has four colors – green, yellow, orange and red – to demonstrate the risk by county and state. The map shows 10 states – Louisiana, Arizona, Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina – in the red for where infections are high.Just one state – Vermont—is in the green.According to Harvard Global Health Institute, when areas are shaded red, stay-at-home orders become necessary.On Thursday, the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation concurred that a number of states should consider stay-at-home orders. Trump leads in North Carolina by 73,697 votes. Friday was the deadline for counties to certify their election results. Trump now has 232 electoral college votes and Joe Biden is still at 290. The AP has already projected Biden will win the presidential election. Meanwhile, Georgia remains uncalled at this time. The Associated Press has not projected a winner in that state and the margin between the two candidates remains at 0.3 percent in Biden's favor. A hand recount audit is underway currently. LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Thousands of MGM Resorts employees will lose their jobs effective Aug. 31, according to a letter sent this morning by CEO Bill Hornbuckle.Approximately 18,000 are being laid off. It is unclear how many Las Vegas employees will be affected. Most but not all of the MGM Resorts properties have reopened in Las Vegas.The hotel-casinos were forced to close because of the coronavirus pandemic. They were allowed to reopen June 4 but business has not been the same.MGM Resorts also operates casinos in Mississippi, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York and overseas in Macao. It is not clear how many employees at each locations are impacted by the lay offs.
