LODI, Calif. - An officer saved a man in a wheelchair mere seconds before an oncoming train passed by.The officer’s body camera captured the moment Wednesday morning when she spotted a man in a wheelchair stuck on the tracks in Lodi, California. LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting of a Black man by two deputies in South L.A.Sheriff's Lt. Brandon Dean told the Los Angeles Times that the deputies tried to stop the man for riding a bike in violation of vehicle codes. The man dropped his bike and ran, and the deputies chased him.Dean said the man punched a deputy in the face and dropped a bundle of clothes he was carrying. A gun fell out of the bundle, and the deputies fatally shot him.The Los Angeles chapter of Black Lives Matter later called for protesters to take to the streets in South Los Angeles. Between 75 and 100 people showed up to call justice for the man who was killed.The sheriff's office is asking for patience with the investigation. 770

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Sheriff Alex Villanueva Tuesday said a weekend raid of "a massive underground party" at a vacant Palmdale residence -- despite health restrictions against large gatherings and a statewide curfew in place due to the coronavirus pandemic -- led to 158 arrests and the rescue of a 17- year-old victim of human trafficking.The Saturday night party in the 6300 block of West Avenue M-8 was allegedly organized by a teen promoter who was one of the people arrested when sheriff's deputies descended on the event, Villanueva said."Parties like these often involve drugs, prostitution, underage drinking and violence," Villanueva said at a news conference Tuesday morning outside the Hall of Justice, where he announced the 158 arrests as well as the rescue of the human trafficking victim and the recovery of six firearms from the location."We were able to rescue a girl who was present and categorized as a commercially sexually exploited child," Villanueva said.Involved in the law enforcement operation were personnel from the sheriff's Palmdale Station, the Human Trafficking Task Force, Operation Safe Streets Bureau, Aero Bureau, three mobile field forces and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.According to Fox11, which had been tracking the 17-year-old promoter's alleged activities and was on scene when the raid occurred, 116 adults were cited and released for various misdemeanor offenses, while seven people were booked into jail. Another 35 juveniles were also cited and released. The arrests included three adults and two juveniles booked on suspicion of burglary, while one juvenile was arrested on a gun charge, the station reported.When stricter health orders were announced last week, including plans for the state's regional stay-at-home order that took effect late Sunday night, Villanueva said his department would continue to rely on the public's adherence to restrictions."Since March, we have continued to focus on education and voluntary compliance regarding health orders," he wrote on Twitter. "Moving forward, we will additionally be conducting targeted enforcement of super-spreader events."The Palmdale party was considered just such an event, Villanueva said at the news conference."As you can see, this was a flagrant violation of the governor's health order," Villanueva said. LIVE OAK SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV)- Some residents in the Live Oaks Springs, Boulevard and Jacumba neighborhoods woke up with power. Others in East County haven't been so lucky. Residents without power say the outages happen every year, and they're frustrated. A local store owner in Live Oak Springs says he works hard all year to keep his store running, but the recent power outage will cost him almost a year's worth of earnings. "I lose business, I lose customers, now I lose all my stuff," says Sam Matthe. Matthe has been running the Live Oak Springs Market for four years. He says he's had power outages for the past two years, with some going on for days. Inside the store sits a large deli counter, freezers full of dairy items, produce, and a walk-in meat freezer in the back. Matthe says it's frustrating because he is on a different SDG&E circuit than others in the area. Just a mile north and south, those neighbors have power. "I don't know why. What's the difference?" says Matthe. "(It's) not too windy. They say its the wind, it's not; the wind it's normal."Matthe estimates he will lose more than ,000.
