The year 2020 was unlike any other, with so much uncertainty and new challenges. The world responded by asking “why”, according to the top global Google searches this year released this week.The search platform says “why” questions were searched more in 2020 than in any other year. With questions like “why can’t I sleep,” “why social distancing,” and “why is it called COVID-19.”Google says “insomnia” was searched globally more in 2020 than ever before.Here in the U.S., the uncertainty of the election, coronavirus and the economy drove a lot of the search inquiries. Google separated results based on general topics in their annual report. The top five news-related searches were “election results,” “coronavirus,” “stimulus checks,” “unemployment,” and “Iran,” with “stock market” and “murder hornet” also making the top ten.And people wanted more information, with questions like “coronavirus symptoms,” “COVID-19 testing sites near me,” and sarching the definitions of “pandemic,” “Juneteenth,” and “asymptomatic.”Americans also went to Google to find how to keep themselves busy during the coronavirus pandemic, with queries like “recipes for Sourdough bread,” “how to cut men’s hair at home,” “dating during coronavirus,” “how to make a mask,” “where to buy toilet paper,” and searches for “virtual field trips” and “virtual museum tours.”Joe Biden was the top person Americans typed into Google search, followed by Kim Jong Un, Kamala Harris, Jacob Blake and Ryan Newman.Searches for Tom Hanks and Kobe Bryant were also high on Google’s list; Hanks contracted COVID-19 earlier this year and Bryant died tragically in a helicopter crash in January.People were also moved to help. Searches for “how to help Black Lives Matter,” “how to help during coronavirus,” “how to donate blood,” and “how to help someone having a panic attack” were four of the top “how to” inquiries on Google search. 1907

Things at grocery stores seem relatively calm now, in comparison to how it was back in March. Remember the toilet paper fiasco?But as we hear talk about another wave of coronavirus infections, some are wondering if grocery supplies will take another hit.We went to experts who track grocery data. They say what we saw earlier this year was historic.“Those mid-March weeks were the largest we've seen in the history of grocery shopping. I don't expect to ever see big waves like that again,” said Anne-Marie Roerink, President of 210 Analytics.People first stocked up on just cleaning items and then they started stocking up on all types of items, including pantry foods and that precious commodity – toilet paper.Roerink says that while it is possible people will stockpile again later this year, toilet paper may not be on the list. Cleaning items may become hard to find again. The timing of all this really depends on the virus and how cases evolve.“Should it come down to where the virus is big enough of a wave or we might go back down to a shelter in place, or where people feel more safe at home than they do out and about, I can see where our grocery spending will go back up,” said Roerink.Earlier this year, holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day actually contributed to the clearing of grocery shelves. They’re typically holidays where we go out to eat, but that wasn't really an option in most places. So, people had to improvise.“All of a sudden, retail had to absorb all those dollars to take care of mom and cook her a fun brunch or dinner, so we had an enormous peak again for Mother's Day and Father's Day,” said Roerink.That means holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas could change how things work out at the grocery store as well.Generally, supply and demand has started to normalize, but grocery sales are still about 10% higher than what they normally are. Travis Reinking was arrested and charged with four counts of criminal homicide in the Waffle House mass shooting in Tennessee. His bond was set for million, but many were outraged by the fact that he was even given a bond.According to Nashville attorney David Raybin, under Tennessee law, every criminal suspect, except those in death penalty cases, are entitled to a bond.Prosecutors could still decide to seek the death penalty against Reinking, but that decision is a long way off from being made.It is possible that someone either Reinking or his family could post the 10 percent or 0,000 with a bonding company and he could walk out of jail.However, Raybin made it clear there is no way Reinking will get out on bond.In the unlikely event the suspect makes bond, then several things could and would happen. The district attorney could immediately request a hearing to increase the bond to or million.The district attorney could also ask the judge to put very onerous conditions on the bond such as house arrest, an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, 24-hour supervision, etc.More Stories:  1162
