SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a couple was found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up. When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m., they saw the body of a person through a window of the home. After entering the house, officers found an Asian man and woman in their 50s dead with trauma to their upper bodies. 10News spoke to neighbors who were stunned to see all the police activity in their quiet neighborhood."Everybody seems to mind their own business, I haven't heard of any problems whatsoever," neighbor Salam Hasenin said. "I hope we go back to our peaceful environment and I just feel really sad and bad for the people."Nick Palermino shares a back wall with the victims' home. He did not recall any commotion happening Saturday night. "We have a dog that has a doggie door, and she wasn't barking last night at all," Palermino said. "I hope it is isolated to this one incident. I hope it is not burglary that went bad."According to police, the victims’ home does not appear to be disturbed. Detectives are investigating the deaths. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego health officials Monday night confirmed the county’s first presumptive positive case of coronavirus. Dr. Wilma Wooten said the woman, who is in her 50s, tested positive after traveling overseas to an unspecified location and time."The case and exposure details are under investigation," Wooten said.The woman, a San Diego County resident, is in the hospital and is doing well, according to Wooten. Scripps Health officials confirmed that the patient is being treated at Scripps Green Hospital.Scripps Health also said: "As a cautionary measure, we have taken immediate steps to identify staff who may have been exposed and place them on home quarantine as appropriate with our full support, and we will provide additional staffing as needed. We are also assisting the county in identifying anyone not on Scripps’ staff who may have been exposed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer signed off Thursday on his .3 billion 2020 budget previously approved by the super majority of the city council.The budget funds the largest infrastructure investment in San Diego’s history and includes more funding for homelessness programs, road repairs, tree trimming services and housing reform.Faulconer appeared to be most excited about the expansion of the Clean San Diego initiative, which aims to clear debris from across the city.The mayor announced during his signing ceremony that million will go toward the expansion of the CSD program, and more crews will be hired to clean up areas citywide 24 hours a day, seven days a week.“We’re restoring pride back in our neighborhoods with every cleanup job, and now we’re investing more resources into ‘Clean SD’ so we can do even more for our communities,” said Faulconer.Funding for the program was more than doubled from Fiscal Year 2019 after Faulconer requested an additional .5 million for its budget.Since the program started in May 2017, more than 3,600 tons of debris have been removed from neighborhoods, canyons, and the San Diego River.Other efforts in the program include an increase in street sweeping in the East Village, sanitizing sidewalks, and graffiti removal. 1302

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue is bringing on more firefighters and preparing for a Red Flag Warning and Heat Advisory in the week ahead.Starting Monday Deputy Fire Chief David Gerboth said, "our helicopters will be on 24 hours a day. We're staffing up five additional brush engines. These are engines that are specially designed to work in these rural areas."He explained the engines have off-road capabilities and can fight fire in areas similar to Japatul Valley where the Valley Fire burned more than 9,000 acres in a day.The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for San Diego County mountains and valleys Monday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.A Heat Advisory follows, 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Thursday, "91 to 102 degrees for the San Diego valleys."This combination dire according to Gerboth."Near-record high temperatures, a mild Santa Ana event and combine that with our vegetation that burns is reaching critically dry levels. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are asking for the public's help in locating a hit-and-run driver who ran over a pedestrian in a wheelchair in the East Village.Police said the pedestrian, a 47-year-old female who was in a wheelchair, was run over at the intersection of F Street and Park Boulevard just before 4 a.m. Saturday. The woman suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.The vehicle - described as a silver, newer model, SUV - stopped momentarily after running over the woman and her chair, before driving off westbound on F St., police said. The driver then turned northbound on 11th St. and was last seen driving eastbound on E St.Police said the suspected SUV has chrome rims, a tinted sunroof, and possibly tinted windows.
