New NYPD training videos released Wednesday clearly show officers what they can and cannot do when taking a suspect into custody,But sometimes that training does not translate in real life. There's already there’s a law on the books banning officers from putting people in chokeholds, but the city council wants to take things a step further, banning officers from applying pressure or restricting a suspect's diaphragm.“It’s tough right now to be a police officer," said NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan. "You have to worry that if a suspect shot at you and you put a knee on his back, that now you become the criminal.”Monahan said these new rules have his officers fighting crime with their hands tied behind their backs.Those in favor say that officers are merely being given a script telling them how to behave in a critical incident. A Southern Arizona school district is taking a creative approach to better sanitize the classroom daily.Santa Cruz Valley School District bought six Power Breezers that will disinfect a classroom in 20 minutes.Superintendent David Verdugo said the school district did this as a cost effective way to provide extra safety and security to students and staff.He said it will be used after school to clean empty classrooms, hallways and even school buses.Each unit costs about 4,500 dollars."This is an opportunity for them to look at a way to sanitize a room in a short period of time and utilize their staff but also be cost effective," Superintendent Verdugo said.He said the district is also requiring all students to wear masks, have their temperature checked, and social distance in and out of the classroom.Every classroom will only be at 50% capacity, meaning 15 desks per room, he said. In order to do this, the district came up with a hybrid approach to learning."There will be a group A and a group B," Superintendent Verdugo said. "The group A students will be on Monday. They will come to school, have their direct instruction and then they will be at home the next day. Then, group B will come to school, but they will still have some interaction that day with assignments and virtual opportunities."He said the district is planning on starting remote learning on August 3 and then the hybrid approach will being on August 31. Two sets of human remains found in the backyard of Chad Daybell's property have been confirmed to be those of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan.According to a news release Saturday from the Rexburg Police Department in Idaho, the medical examiner's office confirmed their identities after performing an autopsy.Earlier this week, family members said in a statement that they were informed the remains were JJ and Tylee, who were reported missing last year. Daybell was taken into custody Tuesday and appeared in court Wednesday when a judge set a million bail. He is currently jailed on charges of “destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence."A prosecutor said during Wednesday's initial court appearance that they were aware the remains were that of children, but at that time officials had not yet fully identified them. Lori Daybell, Chad's current wife, has remained in jail on a million bail as authorities continued the search for JJ and Tylee.
