Bernie Sanders was released from a Las Vegas hospital on Friday, two days after being admitted due to a heart attack, Sanders' medical team said.Campaign spokesperson Jeff Weaver said on Wednesday that Sanders experienced chest discomfort at a campaign event Tuesday night. As movie theaters nationally start to close amid the spread of the coronavirus, NBCUniversal announced a number of movies will be released on streaming platforms. "The Hunt," "The Invisible Man" and "Emma" will be available through streaming services at the end of the week. The movies will be available for a 48-hour rental period at a suggested retail price of .99 in the U.S.Also, "Trolls World Tour," which was slated to be released next month, will be on streaming platforms starting on Friday. “Universal Pictures has a broad and diverse range of movies with 2020 being no exception. Rather than delaying these films or releasing them into a challenged distribution landscape, we wanted to provide an option for people to view these titles in the home that is both accessible and affordable,” said Jeff Shell, CEO, NBCUniversal. “We hope and believe that people will still go to the movies in theaters where available, but we understand that for people in different areas of the world that is increasingly becoming less possible.”NBCUniversal added that it will continue to monitor the situation, and consider releasing more titles to streaming platforms. 1177

Atlanta’s mayor says two police officers have been fired and three placed on desk duty pending review over excessive use of force during a protest incident Saturday night.Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said at a news conference Sunday that she and police Chief Erika Shields made the decision after reviewing body-camera footage. Shields called it “really shocking to watch.”Officials say the incident came to light via video that circulated online.It shows a group of police officers in riot gear and gas masks surround a car being driven by a man with a woman in the passenger seat. The officers pull the woman out and appear to use a stun gun on the man. They use zip-tie handcuffs on the woman on the ground. The couple did not appear to be fighting police on the video.Bottoms said charges have been dropped against the woman, and the man has been released.Local reporters, who captured footage of the incident, said the police had earlier broken the glass on the car. As the race for president in 2020 continues to heat up, data privacy experts say people should be taking a closer look at laws surrounding your data. "One of the toughest things is that for most of us, being online is no longer an optional thing; it's a mandatory thing," says Jennifer King, director of consumer privacy at The Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School. King tracks consumer privacy issues across the board. "In terms of the data that’s collected about you, it’s a pretty tough scenario," she says. "There is a lot of data collection that happens without our knowledge. Some people argue you consent to it, but because the consent is usually buried in a long terms and conditions and privacy policy, and so you consent, but most of us don’t read documents or be expected to practically.” King says companies like Facebook and Google have so much power over people's information because of a lack of laws and oversight. "We don’t have any laws frankly that restrict data collection or data use mostly across the board,” she explains. "There are particular areas where data collection is protected, so for instance in the health context, but that’s with a medical provider, so the world of Fit Bits and health tracking. [What] people do online, that’s not covered by privacy law.”She says people should care about data privacy, even if they have nothing to hide.“I hear that a lot, ‘I have nothing to hide. I'm not doing anything wrong,’ so it kind of assumes that privacy is about hiding things," she says. "I would argue it's about a lot more just controlling who you are and your ability to do things in the world.”When it comes to election season, King says she'd like to see more people with a better understand of the tech world in Washington. "Certainly, there is not enough. So, there is a real need for technological expertise in Congress,” she says. “That doesn’t necessarily mean elected officials. I would not expect most elected officials to come out of software companies. I would actually argue we’d be better off if we didn’t have our elected officials coming out of Silicon Valley, for example.”King hopes there will be more “reasonable protections” for consumers in the next few years. "There is only so much you can do as an individual, and that’s why it’s important to say that to pressure elected representatives to say that you want real data laws," she says. 2421

Bomb squad officers have deemed two suspicious packages found Friday morning around a downtown New York subway station safe, the New York Police Department said."They are NOT explosive devices," the NYPD chief of counterterrorism's account tweeted.The items were pressure cookers, according to two law enforcement sources. They do not appear to be modified in any way, one of the sources said.
