SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man deputies say was under the influence was arrested Saturday evening after crashing into a patrol car and causing a second crash while fleeing law enforcement. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies tried to make contact with an intoxicated man in the parking lot on the 400 block of Autumn Drive in San Marcos around 4:49 p.m.The driver, Cristian Reinoso, 24, failed to obey instructions, instead backing into an unoccupied patrol vehicle twice, deputies say. According to the department, Reinoso then drove away from the parking lot, striking a fence and a parked car before running a red light and crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of Los Vallecitos Boulevard and Knoll Road. The crash reportedly caused Reinoso’s vehicle to roll over, so deputies say he got out and ran away before being arrested at an apartment complex on the 200 block of Knoll Road. Both Reinoso and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. (KGTV) — After a series of delays, a project to revamp a stretch of Otay Mesa Road near San Ysidro High School is nearing completion.The city says it expects to reopen the half-mile portion of the road, from Hawken Drive to Saltaire Place, by the second week of May. The stretch of road has been closed since 2016, cutting off access to San Ysidro High School and the 905 freeway for residents of the Remington Hills neighborhood."You either hit all the stoplights going all the way out over to Picador (Blvd), or you have to go all the way around through San Ysidro, 805 to the 905," said Benjamin Bribiesca, who says the detour adds upwards of 15 to 20 minutes to his daily commute to his job in Eastlake.The city says some of the final work to be done includes grading, repaving, adding anti-graffiti materials, re-vegetation and some sidewalk improvements. (KGTV) — Cal State San Marcos police are warning students and community members after a stranger was caught touching himself in front of two women.The incident occurred Monday at about 5 p.m. at the campus' Mangrum Track and Field facility, the college said. Two females who weren't students arrived to work out and saw a man near the pedestrian entrance water fountain. As the two women were walking on the track, the man reportedly made a comment to them and that's when they noticed he was committing the lewd act.The women immediately reported the incident to campus police. The man was last seen riding his bicycle up the pedestrian ramp and then west on Craven Road toward parking lot XYZ.The man is described as in his mid-30s, about 5' 8" tall. with a bald or shaven head and thin build. SAN MARCOS (KGTV) -- A homicide investigation is underway after one person was killed in a San Marcos crash Friday afternoon.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on West San Marcos Boulevard and South Rancho Santa Fe Road.When deputies arrived, they found an unidentified woman in the back seat with trauma to her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the vehicle was detained.The department’s homicide unit responded and has taken over the investigation, the department said Saturday.The names of the driver and victim haven’t been released at this time and the details surrounding the crash remain unclear. 694
