Mueller writes in a newspaper opinion piece Saturday that the probe was of “paramount importance” and asserts that Trump ally Roger Stone “remains a convicted felon, and rightly so” despite the president’s decision to commute his prison sentence. The op-ed in The Washington Post marks Mueller’s first public statement on his investigation since his congressional appearance last July. Video shows a woman being severely injured after she pursued a man who snatched her purse at a McDonald's restaurant in Okeechobee.The incident happened Thursday at about 8:30 p.m.Police say the suspect entered the restaurant, approached the booth in which the elderly woman was sitting, reached over the backrest and grabbed her tan Coach purse. Surveillance video shows the woman chasing the man to his car. He backed out, knocking the woman to the ground and leaving the scene.The woman was injured and is currently hospitalized. Her condition is unknown. Authorities issued a "be on the lookout" for the suspect and his vehicle.Okeechobee police said tips from Facebook helped them identify the suspect, Charles Alton Stratton Jr., 50, of Okeechobee. 797

(KGTV) - Kellen Winslow Jr. affirmed his innocence to 10News Thursday as he appeared in court to face a third charge of rape.The son of a Chargers legend, Winslow pleaded not guilty to the alleged rape a 17-year old girl in 2003.  10News was able to capture a few words with Winslow as he walked to his car in the parking lot outside court. When reporter Jim Patton asked about the new rape charge, Winslow responded it would all come out in court. Then asked if he was innocent of the other allegations of raping two women in Encinitas, Winslow said, "I'm advised by my lawyer to not speak on much. But yes, I am innocent." The new charge involves a woman who was 17 years old at the time. Winslow was 19. She claims he raped her while she was unconscious. Winslow Jr.'s attorney has previously said their relationship was consensual.  Thursday, the defense repeated a request for the woman's psychological history.Thursday's court hearing lasted no more than 15 minutes as attorneys debated whether this new case should be tried along with the other two rape allegations. Winslow Jr.'s attorneys argued the new charge could prejudice the other two.The judge allowed the cases to remain joined for now for efficiency but said the trial judge would make the ultimate decision.  Winslow is currently free on a million bond, while required to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet. His trial date was set for March 19th, 2019. 1507

WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump continues to press his argument that the vote was rigged against him, the machinery of government and democracy is moving inexorably toward Joe Biden's presidency.As U.S. District Judge put it this week in throwing out a lawsuit challenging Biden's win in Michigan: "This ship has sailed."Trump has refused to recognize that fact and vows to press on with his challenges. On Wednesday, Trump tweeted a call to "#OVERTURN" the results of the election and has continuously tweeted baseless claims that he was the winner.But Biden is firmly on track to become president Jan. 20, after having won a decisive majority of the electoral vote.As of Tuesday, nearly every state has now certified the results of their elections, a process known as "safe harbor." With Biden's win certified, the electoral college will formally recognize Biden's win on Dec. 14.The Trump campaign and other Republicans continue to file lawsuits attempting to overturn election results on widespread fraud claims. But none of those lawsuits have proved any systematic fraud or consequential error in U.S. voting systems.Trump has also not been helped by the newly-conservative Supreme Court and the hundreds of federal judges that he's appointed. His repeated attempts to personally pressure election officials in Michigan and Georgia into delaying certification also amounted to nothing.Ultimately, Biden will be sworn in on Jan. 20 after receiving 306 electoral college votes — the amount of votes Trump won in his 2016 win over Hillary Clinton, which he has referred to as a landslide win. 1610
