Dunkin' Donuts is chowing down on the gluten-free craze.The company introduced its first-ever gluten-free bakery product: a fudge brownie. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Meridian Baptist Church in El Cajon is working to put up a handful of so-called emergency sleeping cabins on their property.“They are different from tiny homes,” Pastor Rolland Slade said, pointing out that they don’t have running water or a kitchen. “They are essentially a shelter for someone living in homelessness to actually sleep behind a locked close door and be comfortable.”Slade says they have bathrooms on the property as well as a kitchen. They are looking to install a shower or perhaps bring them in through outside organizations.The emergency cabins are 144 sq feet, of which 96 square feet is livable space.“The village we are looking to build is going to focus on veteran women with children who are living in homelessness in El Cajon,” Slade says.Slade says they will find their clients through organizations that work with the homeless. The homes are not meant to be permanent housing, and families will be allowed to stay for 90 days.The church is working with a group called Amikas, as well as the city.El Cajon city officials have given the pilot program the green light through December 31, 2023. However, city officials say “permits are required, and the “emergency housing” must be operated by an organization experienced/proficient.”There is one cabin on the property. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - The El Cajon man who is accused of beating his roommate to death with a frying pan says he's not guilty. Brad Payton showed no expression as he was arraigned on Thursday afternoon in front of an El Cajon judge.An attorney spoke for Payton who entered the “not guilty” plea during the video-streamed initial court appearance since the attack, which happened exactly one week ago. Deputy DA Carlos Campbell told 10News that the crime comes with a sentencing of 26 years to life in prison.The attack happened before sunrise at an independent living facility on Naranca Avenue in El Cajon. Police say the two men were heard arguing before 25 year-old Payton allegedly grabbed a frying pan and beat the other man to death. 10News spoke to the victim's mother on the day he was attacked, before she knew he died. She said he suffered from a developmental disability and didn’t like to follow the rules, which was how he ended up at the living facility. His name has still not been released by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The county lists the property where the attack happened as a home to those with physical or mental disabilities. DOWNTOWN (CNS) - Authorities shut down lanes of Interstate 5 in Downtown San Diego as firefighters battled a small fire that broke out in palm trees near San Diego City College's campus, just west of the freeway Saturday afternoon.The fire was first reported at 3:44 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.The CHP closed the right two lanes of southbound I-5, leaving only the left two lanes open. Ramps onto I-5 were also closed in the area, including the ramps from C Street and Pershing Drive to southbound I-5, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims. Firefighters had the fire knocked down by about 4 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.Lanes on I-5 were going to be closed for at least an hour while firefighters worked to clean up the fire, the CHP log said. 825

Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, said on Wednesday that several states should consider moving back to Phase 1 in reopening due to increased coronavirus activity.Dr. Birx pointed to Arizona, Texas, California and Florida as states that are seeing a high prevalence of the coronavirus.
