Allergan has recalled almost 170,000 sample packs of birth control pills because of a packaging error that could put consumers at risk for unintended pregnancy.According to the recall, four placebo capsules were placed out of order in a sample pack of Taytulla and the first four days of therapy had four non-hormonal placebo capsules instead of active capsules."As a result of this packaging error, oral contraceptive capsules, that are taken out of sequence, may place the user at risk for contraceptive failure and unintended pregnancy," The recall states. "The reversing of the order may not be apparent to either new users or previous users of the product, increasing the likelihood of taking the capsules out of order."Allergan says they are notifying customers by recall letter and is arranging for return of all recalled sample pack product with the lot #5620706 Exp. May 2019. (WKBW) — The New York State United Teachers are holding a press conference on Thursday calling for a strengthened statewide mask mandate in schools, which includes masks to be worn at all times in school.The teachers union says it will release a letter to the state Department of Health calling for revised school reopening guidance.“The governor has said — and we agree — that parents and educators must be confident in their school district’s reopening plan in order for this to work,” NYSUT President Andy Pallotta said. “As we hear of disparate mask procedures and other issues in reopening plans across the state, it’s clear that the state must step in. Amazon said that beginning Tuesday, customers at its two Amazon Go stores in Seattle can use a device that will scan their palms before entering the store that will sync to their credit card with their hand signature.The company announced the launch in a blog post."We believe Amazon One has broad applicability beyond our retail stores, so we also plan to offer the service to third parties like retailers, stadiums, and office buildings so that more people can benefit from this ease and convenience in more places," Dilip Kumar, Vice President Physical Retail & Technology at Amazon, said in the blog post.The way the contactless device Amazon One works is that customers will insert their credit card into the device, hover their hand over the scanner, and follow the prompts to associate the card with their palm signature built for them by the machine.The company said customers could use both palms or one to enroll. Once a consumer enrolls, they'll need to place their palm over the Amazon One device at the entrance.The company plans to add more of the devices in the coming months to other Amazon stores.Amazon says you don't need an Amazon account to use the Amazon One device.The company said the device "protected by multiple security controls and palm images are never stored on the Amazon One device," according to the FAQ on its site."The images are encrypted and sent to a highly secure area we custom-built in the cloud where we create your palm signature," Kumar said. 1499

American Airlines announced they will furlough or layoff about 19,000 employees in October, as they struggle with lower passenger rates during the coronavirus pandemic. Flight attendants will bear the heaviest cuts, with 8,100 losing their jobs.The airline originally warned that 25,000 flight attendants, pilots and frontline workers could be at risk of furloughs. Tuesday’s announcement comes after about 23,000 employees took early retirement or voluntary leave, according to the Dallas Morning News.The furloughs come a week after American announced they would be cutting service to 15 markets “as a result of low demand and the expiration of the air service requirements associated with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.”U.S. air travel has recovered slightly since April but remains down 70% from a year ago, and carriers say they need fewer workers.In March, passenger airlines got billion from the government to save jobs for six months, but that money and a ban on furloughs both expire Oct. 1. 1044

A woman who was caught on camera calling 911 dispatchers on a Black bird watcher in New York City’s Central Park will face charges.The Manhattan District Attorney announced Monday his office has initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for falsely reporting an incident.Cooper was walking her dog in the park in May and was seen on camera having a confrontation with a Black man, who was birdwatching at the time. The man, Christian Cooper (no relation to Amy Cooper) told Amy Cooper that by not putting her dog on a leash in that section of the park, she was in violation of park rules.In the cell phone video taken by Christian Cooper, Amy Cooper is heard talking to 911 dispatchers and telling them a Black man was threatening her life. Cooper was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket for an arraignment in October.In a statement posted online, the DA is asking others who have been “the target of false reporting to contact our Office. We are strongly committed to holding perpetrators of this conduct accountable.” 1019
