hools," which exploit the animals to entertain visitors through tricks such as riding bicycles and shooting basketballs. Coercion is used to train them to pick coconuts, as they wouldn't voluntarily do it.The monkeys are isolated from their peers as they spend their lives chained, transported in cages, and forced to climb trees in order to collect coconuts. The captive animals display stereotypic types of behavior, such as circling endlessly. Similar abuse was found at all 13 randomly selected locations.Chaokoh produces coconuts for coconut milk that you sell. Its refusal to take a position against cruelty to animals is not sitting well with ethical consumers, and your own current position stands in contrast to that of the more than 25,000 other stores that have pledged not to purchase products from any company that depends on forced monkey labor. We'd love to work together to get coconut products involving such labor off your shelves. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - A photographer in Carlsbad is helping to preserve the memory of the Greatest Generation, one portrait at a time.John Riedy works with The Greatest Generations Foundation. The group takes Veterans back to the battlefields on which they fought.During the trips, Riedy takes a portrait of each vet on their battlefield."It helps them realize that we’re not going to forget these guys," Riedy says. "When they’re gone, their legacies are going to live on."Over the last 12 years, Riedy has gone on nearly 50 trips with the Foundation and taken close to 300 portraits. For the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, he chose 75 of his favorite to hang in two galleries near Normandy and Omaha Beach."I think they were blown away to see their portraits up there," Riedy says of the reaction the Vets had when they got a first look at the galleries.Riedy says it's his personal way to honor the sacrifices they made."When you step onto Omaha beach, or you go to that cemetery at Omaha, and you see what they were up against when you see those cliffs, it's awe-inspiring," he says. "It’s like a switch flipped inside me. From them on I knew this was going to be my calling."Riedy and the Foundation have started to expand the program beyond World War II Veterans. They now take vets to Vietnam and are hoping to take Korean War veterans in the future.Riedy says he hopes to open another gallery of portraits either in California or in Denver, where the foundation is located. To see a full gallery of the photos, to to support the Greatest Generations Foundation, click here. 1587

CARLSBAD, Calif. Carlsbad is the third local jurisdiction to back the lawsuit, joining Escondido and San Diego County.Carlsbad will also formalize its support in a resolution to be voted on at its next meeting and issue a "friend of the court" brief to join the lawsuit.RELATED: 2 San Diego County leaders meet with Trump regarding California sanctuary lawsThe city says the vote will not have an immediate effect on local enforcement. Carlsbad Police Chief Neil Gallucci said city police will continue to operate "in accordance with the law and does not have a formal position on sanctuary city issues."Carlsbad Police updated its policy manual in May to reflect the three state laws.Earlier this year, California passed a series of laws aimed at adding protections for undocumented immigrants from federal immigration authorities: AB 450, AB 103, and SB 54 — the latter of which prevents local authorities from aiding federal authorities in enforcing federal immigration laws.RELATED: San Diego County Board of Supervisors votes to support sanctuary state lawsuit against CaliforniaNational City, Chula Vista, and the City of San Diego have voted to support California's laws, along with about 20 other cities throughout the state.California is one of seven states that have declared themselves "sanctuary states," according to the Center for Immigration Studies. President Trump has said he intends to block federal funding for any states or cities that operate against federal immigration laws. 1761
