President Donald Trump declared "mission accomplished" in Friday night's strike on three Syria targets and argued that it "could not have had a better result.""A perfectly executed strike last night," Trump tweeted Saturday. "Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!"The President added that he's "so proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won't be anything, or anyone, even close!"Trump announced from the White House on Friday night that the US, in coordination with France and the United Kingdom, had launched strikes on Syria following a week of threats of retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack on civilians by the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.  919

Porn star Stormy Daniels filed a lawsuit for defamation on Monday against President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen. The suit, filed by her lawyer Michael Avenatti in California, came a day after CBS aired a tell-all interview with Daniels regarding an affair she alleges she had with Trump more than a decade ago, and which the White House continues to deny.Monday's legal maneuver is an additional move in an ongoing suit by Daniels against Cohen, Trump and the limited liability company Cohen has said he established to facilitate a payment to Daniels ahead of the presidential election.Cohen has denied Daniels' claims but admitted to making the payment. The additional claim that Daniels filed Monday states that Cohen's denial is a defamatory statement."It was reasonably understood Mr. Cohen meant to convey that Ms. (Stephanie) Clifford is a liar," the complaint reads, referencing Daniels' real name.Avenatti added, "Mr. Cohen made the statement knowing it was false or had serious doubts about the truth of the statements."Reacting to the latest development, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said it is another attempt to compel Cohen, or perhaps even the President, into a deposition under oath.Toobin said key questions would include whether Cohen actually used his own money to pay Daniels and whether Trump knew about it."Those are, I think, the key political issues here, and filing this lawsuit gives Avenatti another opportunity perhaps to get Cohen and perhaps Trump under oath," he said. 1528

Postal workers in Maine reassembled a high-speed mail sorting machine that had been taken offline over the summer amid USPS policy changes instituted by the new postmaster general.According to WMTM-TV in Poland Spring, Maine and The Associated Press, workers at the Southern Maine Mail Processing Center in Scarborough reassembled one of the two mail sorting machines that had been decommissioned in the summer. The machine resumed sorting mail on Thursday. According to WMTM, the American Postal Workers Union pushed managers at the sorting plant to bring the machine back online. The other machine that had been disassembled this summer had been sold for scrap metal. After he was appointed to take over as head of the USPS in June, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a longtime Republican donor and supporter of President Donald Trump, ordered several policy changes that he claimed would make the mail run more efficiently. However, mail workers claimed the changes significantly slowed delivery, even for first-class mail.DeJoy later said the USPS would hold off on instituting the changes until after election day but said the agency would not be bringing back sorting machines that had already been taken offline. 1222

President Donald Trump said during a press briefing at the White House Tuesday that he had signed legislation that will sanction China after the country that passed a strict "national security law" that places severe limits on the rights of those who are protesting against Chinese rule in Hong Kong.During the press conference, Trump said his administration would no longer view Hong Kong differently than it views mainland China.Following the announcement about his signing of the legislation, Trump's address quickly turned into a campaign-style speech, deriding Presumptive Democratic Nominee Joe Biden. At one point during the speech, Trump went through the Biden campaign's platform point-by-point.The briefing came shortly after the announcement that the administration would rescind a rule that would have required international college students to take classes in person during the COVID-19 pandemic. He did not address the action during the press conference. The presser also comes at a time when the country’s educational system is grappling with how students of all ages can safely return to their classrooms this fall. The White House is pushing for schools to reopen with in-person instruction as opposed to online learning.Meanwhile, the United States remains the world leader in COVID-19 cases, nearing 3.4 million as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University. 1401

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Some North County students of color are sharing their experiences of racism anonymously in an Instagram page called "Black in PUSD."The social media account is described as "a safe space for current and graduated students in Poway Unified School District to anonymously share their experiences with racism.""We were originally inspired to start this during the Black Lives Matter movement, we thought it was a good idea to showcase the black experience in our community," said one of the page creators. The creators want to remain anonymous so they aren't targeted, but they shared with ABC 10News their encounters with racism."A girl once told me her father interrogated her after seeing us walking together, and he asked her who I was, why she was speaking to me, and if she was safe," one person on the page said. The page has more than 3,600 followers and dozens of posts. But the creators want to do more than bring awareness."In bringing awareness to these issues, we can create a more inclusive environment through better education," the creators said. "And just overall changing up the curriculum, so students understand the history of what people of color had had to face."In addition, they said they wanted to see more diversity in the staff and faculty. On Thursday, the school board is set to vote on an anti-racism resolution, something the district says was already in the works."In it, there's a commitment from PUSD to have more diverse staffing, increases expanded anti-bias training not just for students but all staff," said Christine Paik, chief communications officer at Poway Unified.Paik also encourages students to report incidents involving staff or peers."That way, we can actually follow up, investigate and get back to the complainant in terms of what we were able to do," she said. 1841
