During his visit to Kazakhstan, the Chinese leader reached agreement with his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on promoting the Sino-Kazakh strategic partnership, said Yang, who was accompanying Hu during his visit.     Hu made five proposals: strengthening political mutual trust, deepening cooperation in the energy sector and other sectors, enhancing financial cooperation, and expanding cultural cooperation.     Hu expressed China's willingness to work with Kazakhstan and support each other on issues concerning their core interests, and push forward practical cooperation in various areas.     Nazarbayev said he highly valued the important role of China's good neighborly foreign policy in promoting peace, security and development in Asia and the world.     The two leaders agreed to further promote practical cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in various fields, and strengthen cooperation in important organizations and frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA), Yang said.

BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has called on the country's enterprises to recruit more talents and strengthen research and innovation in order to facilitate the transition from "made in China" to "created in China."     Hu made the remarks during a two-day inspection to Zhuhai, a coastal city in China's southern economic hub of Guangdong Province, from Sunday to Monday. BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao recently called for the whole nation to make further advancement in reform of the cadre and personnel system.     Vice President Xi Jinping, also a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the indications on the issue as well, noting that more achievement should be made in building a scientific cadre's selection and appointment system.     The CPC central committee has approved the outline of deepening the reform of cadre and personnel system (2010-2020) and it has been formally released. The plan put forward the goal and major tasks of the reform in next ten years.     The plan stressed the importance in dealing key issues concerning leadership and cadre cultivation, in making correct standard of cadre appointment and in improving the public credibility of cadre selection.

  

BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke said here Monday clean energy technology is one of the most beneficial areas for U.S.-China cooperation and also the only way for the two countries to keep sustained economic growth and combat global climate change.     Locke, who accompanied U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to China, made the remarks at the Sino-U.S. clean energy round table conference held here Monday.     It has been Locke's third trip to China since becoming Commerce Secretary in March.     "The United States and China have the power and indeed an obligation to alter history for the benefit of all people on the planet," he said.     As the world's most productive and innovative economies, the U.S. and China are uniquely positioned to create the solar, wind, biofuel and renewable technologies that the world wants and needs, Locke said.     "We can do it by making clean energy the prime engine of the economic growth in the 21st century," he said.     Locke said he plans to lead an energy and trade mission to China next March, which would include U.S. firms from new energy technology sectors and make stops in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities.     U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu also attended the conference, who expressed optimism about U.S.-China cooperation in the deployment and development of clean energy technology.     The conference was co-hosted by China's State Energy Bureau, U.S. Department of Commerce and Department of Energy, in a bid to advance mutual pragmatic cooperation in clean energy and promote the development of clean energy technology and industry.
