SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  On Monday a settlement was reached in two cases against San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer. Those settlements come to a total of more than 0,000. 10News has been covering the story since November when a victim shared her story with Reporter Steve Fiorina. The Sheriff's Department opened an investigation into Fischer last fall after a woman claimed he groped her while responding to a service call.The investigation then expanded to more than a dozen incidents against Fischer dating back to 2015.RELATED: San Diego County sheriff's deputy accused of sexual misconduct pleads not guiltyThe 32-year-old deputy is on unpaid leave and out on bail pending criminal court cases. At his February arraignment in a Vista courtroom, Fischer pleaded not guilty to all charges. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A new effort is underway to revive a San Diego public golf course that's falling apart.  The "Friends of Presidio Hills Golf" went before the city council Tuesday urging them to take up the issue.  Their plan is to restore the course to its former glory days.Presidio Hills in Old Town is a local golf course with a storied past and an uncertain future."It needs to be completely redone," said John Vallas, who spearheaded the proposal.The place many once called the "cradle of golf" in San Diego is now a long shot from being up to par. 578

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two new charges have been filed in the case against a La Jolla restaurant owner accused of sexually assaulting multiple women.Authorities say five victims have now come forward claiming Daniel Dorado, 59, sexually assaulted them.The fifth victim came forward after last week’s arraignment, telling the San Diego Police Department about an incident that happened in 2014.RELATED: La Jolla restaurant owner accused of sexual assault makes first court appearance?Prosecutors say the assaults took place over a nine-year period beginning in 2009 and ending in January of 2018.Dorado pleaded not guilty earlier in April to 14 counts brought against him, including rape of an unconscious person.RELATED: Woman claims she was drugged during job interviewDorado was arrested in March. One of his accusers claimed she was drugged and raped by Dorado three years ago at his Bird Rock-area restaurant Voce del Mare.Prosecutors in the case say two victims were sexually assaulted at the restaurant while three others were assaulted elsewhere. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two competing plans are on the table to redevelop the Tailgate Lot a block from Petco Park into a mixed-use area with park space, retail and office, and housing.The City of San Diego has launched a virtual open house for residents to provide feedback on two plans to develop the Tailgate Lot in a mixed-use area. Residents have through Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, to give their feedback.One of the plans was developed by Brookfield Properties and the other between the San Diego Padres, Tishman Speyer, and Ascendent Capital. Both plans call for a combination of office, retail, and residential space and open park space and parking.Brookfield Properties' plan calls for about 1.2 million square feet of mixed-use office and retail space, about 1,200 residential units, and 1.1 acres of park and community space. The plan also highlights developing a tailgate park, "bazaar" marketplace, and a gateway to public transit.Brookfield's plan also includes a culinary incubator for restaurant startups and makers, including 15 restaurant spaces and a community kitchen.The plan by the Padres, Tishman Speyer, and Ascendent Capital also features about 1.35 million square feet of office space, 612 market rate and affordable housing units, 236,000 square feet of open space, and 1,600-space parking garage for games and ballpark events.The parking garage would also include a multi-use field on the roof for recreational activities. The plan says that the spaces will be shared with tenants when not in use for games and events.The Tailgate Lot property includes 15 parcels of land, or about 5.25 net acres, between K Street and Imperial Avenue and 12th Ave. and 14th St. The parking is currently leased to the Padres.The city's plan is to submit an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement to City Council in October or November 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — With California's theme parks and other family activities closed or restricted because of the pandemic, pumpkin patches have become an even more popular source of seasonal joy.The patches are able to operate under certain restrictions, though some operating rides may be at odds with public health orders.Cell phone video taken this week at The Pumpkin Station on Camino del Rio South in Mission Valley shows lots of visitors, some wearing masks and others not, and some small rides operating.The owner of the patch told ABC 10News they have a capacity limit of 250 people and require employees to undergo temperature checks and wear face masks. The owner said the location can't make customers wear face masks if they don't want to. As for the rides, the owner said calls to the San Diego County Health Department about whether rides are allowed were not returned. The owner said the rides are sanitized between each use as well.The county referred ABC 10News to California's guidelines for amusement and theme parks, which says all operations must be closed in the red and purple reopening tiers. San Diego County is currently in the red tier.As for other spots, like the Strawberry Fields in Carlsbad, there are no rides but there are inflatables.The owner of Carlsbad Lagoon tells ABC 10News that they've been working with the county ever since they reopened and that there are no specific guidelines for inflatables. The county says that as long as they are not completely closed, things like inflatables, slides, and obstacle courses are allowed.Carlsbad Lagoon added that they sanitize frequently and restrict admission to adhere to social distancing guidance. 1694
