"It was the third period, the last period, I was down 12-3, I believe, we went out of bounds, and he ended up dislocating his shoulder," said Hansen. "When he came up to me and was like, I want to trade my medal, I want to trade my medal, I was just kind of taken aback that in the moment, so quickly, he was wanting to do that," said Hansen's coach, Dustin Long. During the award ceremony, Hansen gave his gold medal to his opponent in exchange for the silver medal. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County leaders Monday announced proposals that would crack down on vaping amid vaping-related illness and death throughout the U.S. At the Monday news conference, County Supervisors Dianne Jacob and Nathan Fletcher proposed a ban on the sale and distribution of flavored tobacco products and e-cigarettes. The recommendations will come to go to the board on October 15 and, if the board follows up with approval, the rules would take effect in the county’s unincorporated area. “Vaping-related illnesses are a grave concern and we must take local action to address this fast-growing public health crisis,” said Jacob, chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors.“Teenagers and young adults have been the hardest hit, and we must stand up to vaping manufacturers that are preying on them for profit.”So far across the U.S., there have been more than 800 confirmed illnesses tied to vaping and 13 deaths. The news conference comes after health officials around the country advise people to refrain from vaping as investigations into the cause of the illnesses and deaths continue. “E-cigarettes, and in particular the flavored products, are erasing years of progress in reducing teens’ use of tobacco and nicotine,” said Supervisor Fletcher.In San Diego County, there have been 22 confirmed probable vaping-related illness cases. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for an 18-year-old at-risk woman who disappeared from her Barrio Logan home on Sunday.Police say Kaedyn Carmon was last seen leaving her home at about 5:50 p.m. She left on foot in an unknown direction after an argument.Carmon is diagnosed with Autism with the mental capacity of a 9- to 11-year-old, police added.She's described as a black/white female with black hair and brown eyes, and about 5-feet, 3-inches tall and 260 pounds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County’s public health officer said a Pacific Beach gym ordered to close last week has been linked to a community COVID-19 outbreak.The Gym, located at 2949 Garnett Ave., was ordered to close on July 23 for violating public health orders, according to a document from the county.County Public Health officer Wilma Wooten said the county discovered the outbreak on Tuesday. Wooten couldn’t offer any further details. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents in Ocean Beach are taking their concerns over what they say is a dangerous intersection to the OB Planning Board.Isaac Darby, Vice President of the OB Neighborhood Watch, says the intersection in question is Saratoga Ave. and Ebers St., situated near a children’s park and blocks away from Ocean Beach Elementary.The OB Neighborhood Watch group wants to see a four-way stop sign at the intersection. “People kind of pick up momentum seeing that the stop sign on Santa Monica is the last one all the way before the stoplight at Voltaire, so it’s kind of the last stop before you just can bonsai out of town,” said Darby.In addition to speeding, he says large trucks are often parked on the street causing blind spots. Darby says the intersection is most dangerous during the morning and evening commutes, for both drivers and pedestrians.Darby’s initial application to the city for a four-way stop sign was denied; he was told it didn’t meet city requirements. Now he and other residents are taking their concerns to the OB Planning Board in hopes of building a stronger case.The OB Planning Board Chair says the board can request a traffic study. Once it's complete, the city will review it and make a recommendation. “My plea is do something proactive before we have to be reactive and someone gets hurt or worse,” said Darby. “A lot of the little accidents and fender benders aren’t reported.”Darby says the community is only growing and that they hope to get ahead of problems. 1518
