China has at least 1.6 million new energy cars on its roads, said Wang, citing statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the country overtaking the United States in 2015 as the world's largest market for such vehicles.

This puts China in the position to be a strategic partner that will enable Africa to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals of affordable and clean energy across the entire continent.

China attaches great importance to bilateral relations, and is willing to handle the relationship from a long-term perspective and in big-picture terms, he said, adding that the two sides should enhance mutual political trust and expand win-win cooperation.
